An alternative would always be to give C++ source to someone else to compile. C++ would tend to be more compatible in most ways. As for Tazz... I'm not gonna bother offering advice since it's XP. Well, I can make one suggestion... find a Win98 prog that includes that dll, and copy it into the same directory as the terrain prog. About the problems... Can anyone on Win2k run the prog? I'd suggest looking at the OS's before the regional settings.

Ignore comment about OS's... only skimmed previous page... Didn't get that note about the commas, haha. Uhm, hmm, yeah, well I'd suggest for those with those problems they could just run Wordpad or something and run through it. Take some time and effort, but it'd work.

Its ok, the program now functions correctly with different regional settings. No need for notepad. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

Tazz I will include the files you need in the next version.

The next version will include scaling and stuff.

Great work. Now all we need is someone to fix the sink-bug. You know, the transitions between two 3dos, which aren't walkable most of the time. Or has this already been fixed?

The miners of Kiith Somtaaw sacificed much, and risked all. For their efforts they were brought into the inner most circle of Hiigaren power. Naabal, S'jet, and Sobanii bowed before them. And from that day to this, Somtaaw's children have been known to one and all as Beastslayers..

For some reason, I can't get my 3do to load in the Force Remap program mentioned in the "How to texture your 3do" section of the help manual... Something about invalid 3dos?
2004-01-15, 12:57 PM #91
Also, when I try to use the 3do's in game, they don't show up. Does this have anything to do with WinXP home edition, maybe?
2004-01-15, 1:24 PM #92
Right then, disregard my post about not being able to open it in Force Remap, however, it told me that the 3do would crash the game. So I cleaved it, and assigned each new sector to a different mesh, and NOW, Force Remap stops responding when I try to open it. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/tongue.gif] So...

If you read, texture normals are off. I'd suggest not trying to load it into ForceRemap first. Load into Jed, put basic textures where you want them, then reexport it, then try ForceRemap. And 3do's disappearing is a common error, more likely having to do with the sector assignment.

Because I was lazy, I only wrote the sections of the 3do which were required by jed for loading. So before opening in another program you need to go through jed.

I recommend exporting out of jed before cleaving, and texture it using force remap. Then re-importing back to jed and cleaving it up.

Sorta. Its actully caused when the player looses LOS with the object's sector. because JK's LOS code is kinda funky, object appearance can be kinda funky too. I wrote a cog to work-around the problem, you can find it floating around here somewhere.... [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif]

Slight correction, it's when the player loses LOS with a 3do's origin that is not in the same sector as the player.
