Yeah, I agree, My bg color in jed is a dark, desaturated green, and my grid is the same thing but lighter. Very easy on the eyes.

Great work, Snootle! I'm wondering, though.. Is the "wireframe" constructed from 3dos or are they transparent mats? (I'm leaning toward the former..)
I just never got that snippet of info. from your last thread.

Yeah it's all 3do's. As it is now only the red lines block the player, so I'm gonna put an invisible impassable surface in every hole. As for the colour scheme, I'll leave it on Jed's default, even if it's hard on the eyes. Jed just isn't Jed without the purple grid (at least for me [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif] )

Not technically Jeds color scheme. Or only one sector would be in red, rest white. I personally prefer the old WDFUSE color scheme (Yeah, I've been around too long, I know...)
But still, cool. Doors are single 3do though, so they open easily, right? I suppose as an alternative method, you could just make it transparent surfaces, cutting near the edges and making those red. But I think the 3do's would look better in the end.

I don't get that remark about GTK... GTK's a form of Radiant, right? And this level's in JK... I'd think he'd be using Jed instead of Radiant.

You could make one sector red, and the others teal, or is it one orange, and the others teal? However the multiselected color looks.

But just one as red would look the best. Perhaps the focal point or center of the map?

I'm curious, are you making this level in JED (out of normal sectors for like, ya know, a normal level) to help you figure out where the cleaves and stuff would be or are you just improvising/doing it on the fly?

The best way would be to make it out of sectors and then swap the mats out when you change sectors. It would take alot of cogs but would be really cool when the sector gets selected from player enter.

Uhm, it's for JK Cazor. He's mentioned that he's using 3do's, which should be a good sign, especially if you hadn't noticed his earlier Jed level post.

And I'm well aware it's imitating Jed, but since it's for JK, I'd imagine it's being done with Jed, since that'd probably be easiest. And I think it's only a single sector, since he said the only thing to block players are the 3dos. Though he'll probably have to make the sectors later for the impassable surfaces.

It's JK. It's basically composed of many 4 sided red bars put together, and then exported as one 3do (the door, player and light are seperate 3do's). The surfaces that will block the player will be added to the 3do, they won't be adjoins.
I like the idea of the sector colour changing as you enter it, I'm wondering how I could do it. Perhaps I'll just cut each sector into a different 3do, and then cleave out adjoins that will trigger cogs. I'll work on that later, but in the mean time I'll chane the archi color to white and leave it red only in the domed room.

Hmm... It'd be kinda odd if they turned red as you entered them. It'd be like a homing beacon in MP... Gonna make a wirefram weapons patch? As for what you could do, you could cut out the sectors... But you could just ignore the 3d aspects (just cut out the 2d overhead shape)

Coding actually shouldn't be that hard. Create two sets of 3dos for every "sector". Actually, should make them sectors. Cog could be (In layman's terms, as I'm too lazy to actually code)

"If player thing in sector, thing1 @ ghost; else, thing2 @ ghost"

Probably add some lag though. Of course you could always try doing it local, as it'd just be an effect, not really necessary to be synced or anything.

right now the map is very planer. make it so theres stairs or something, with platforms above what you have now, and below the grid. that would rock.

I'd suggest an elevator instead of stairs. Start adding in other wireframed objects. Furniture, architecture, guns, objects, whatever. Add a wireframe weapons pack mod. Oh, and the sector entry/color change would add something too, of course.
