Ok so I got the botroute file but apparently one of the servers along the way (or outlook) managed to think it was a virus and I can't get at it... Maybe try zipping it. My email is a royal pain in the *** .

I'm not sure how Raven managed to make the Falcon in that Tatooine SP level in JA not be so dark beneath it... It's probably due to my lighting coming in from a very steep angle, more than anything...

Aha. Decompiled the map and while they are ingenious about it, it really wouldn't suit my purposes here...

Thrawn: misc_model_static, with HEINOUS amounts of very accurate clip brushes, and brushes that are all caulk save the top that make a good outline of the ship, buried inside the actual model.

Forsakahn: spawnflags 2 on an .md3 model = self-clipping. I just had to clean it up a bit so as to make it easier to fight on/under (notably around the gun turrets). The clipping on the bottom is better in the very latest build which is going to go up soon enough, it'll have Captain's botroutes in there as well.

Get the latest Q3Map2, and add spawnflags 6 to that model, so you'll have it lightmapped as well.

I made a fool of myself, I forgot to thank ZUl for those great textures, keep up the nice work. Also though the level looks great, I found that after playing it, it was basicly simple shapes and archatechture (sp). The only thing that I personaly thought would be difficult is making those tarps around the stadium, and getting the shadows to place under tham correctly,the domes ontop of some of the buildings, and the lighting. But It still looks great.


Also Zul, is anyone free to use your textures?

Yes, the architecture and brushwork are simple shapes. That's INTENTIONAL. It conforms to the shapes that I was looking at in source material of Tatooine at the time. Simply because I could have made everything infinitely detailed and intricate doesn't mean that I SHOULD have... It's Tatooine. It's not much more than simple shapes. I'm not seeing your point behind mentioning it, as anyone who played the level would realize that.

If you were being sarcastic or something, I apologize as that doesn't translate well in text.

I believe he was trying to say that the level is just textures and not architecture, and therefore not that great other than the textures. How it sounds to me anyways.

But it looks like Tatooine. We all know Gonk isn't lacking in architectural skills at all. I would say the simplicity of this level is a testament to that. It's simple, but it's accurately simple. Less is more, in this case.

I've always thought Gonk AND Zully suck. But that's just me.

Good: So tatoonie it'd blend in with the movie sets.

Bad: Tarp Shadows. Increase your lightmap scale.

GONK WINS, Gonk I just love this map, but I think it is too big for a duel map. Make it a FFA, if you think it is a little small for that, make it a bit bigger then.

What is all this noise!?

To stay with the map. Gonk you have done it again. This map is excellant. Although you state it's in beta there are a few things I have noticed. I have not played the map yet, but I will crit from the screenshot. You should make the canopys surounding the starpad wave like flags. If you notice in SWG and KOTOR They will. And the texture surronding the inner bowl of the starpad seems too streched. But over all GOOD WORK! [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

Due to how the shader for the tarps work... that's not really a possibility. I've tried it. The top and bottom will actually move INTO one another, and it just looks generally screwed up. So I decided to leave it as is. I suppose I could work out an opposite deformation for the underside so that it'd match the top, but I honestly don't think its necessary, and it'd be prone to creating more tris for me to deal with. So it'll have to stay as is.

That said aside from minor things (like the skybox having only one sun) I think this is pretty much set to go. Watch for a release this week sometime. I want to make sure I haven't screwed anything up between the last beta build (which is now a 404) and what I'll be releasing.
