greetings
i am working on a new map
a siege map and not just any siege map
The Battle of Hoth

my map wil feature flyable snow speeders(with actual towcables), driveable at-at's
echo-Base built in the greatest possible detail
real time reinforcements drops for the empire
escape objectives for the rebelion and so on

also here's what i have planned for the objectives

1. Break through the main Rebel defense line.

2. Take out the shield generator so reenforcements can land.
(i wil have actual shuttle's landing with troops and in the final wave lord vader wil land)

3. secure the trenches

4. secure the command center

5.vader must survive

6. 2 at-at's must survive (out of 5)

7. prevent the remaining rebels from taking off in their last docked transport
(this can be achieved by ether destroying the transport or closing the hanger doors)


rebel

1. prevent imperial at-at's from breaking trough the defense line
(do this with snow speeders with actual tow cables )

2. defend the shield generator

3. prevent the imperials from overtaking the trenches

4. prevent te imperials from taking the command center

5. if all the above failed give the evacuation code signal from the secondary command center.

6. head for the last transport that is docked in the south hanger
(every one playing must be aboard for it to take off)

7. make sure all transports get out safely
(make sure they dont get shot down by enemy fire)

any sugestions you have for these objectives are welcome

Very nice, but where's the Outrider? I couldn't find it in the shots!

Apart from that one missing aspect, looks great. If I can get a computer capable of running a map that big, i'll play it [http://forums.massassi.net/html/smile.gif]

for all n00bs the Outrider is the Ship from dash Randar, also a smuggler like mr. solo.
Dash's task was to protect luke skywalker but by the way he is my favourite Star Wars Character...

Good, but some parts whoed blockiness. Use models for the terrain in some parts.

the hangar is nice and all, but it doesn't really have that dark cavernous feel it did in the movies... maybe the cieling or lighting need to be lowered?

the hanger is still in early production i wil be focusing on the mood of the map once i finish the basic architexture

oh btw the map doesnt lag at all on my comp and its not that speciel i have a geforce 4 ti 4200 a amd athlon 2ghz and 1 gig ram
so it should be ok for most people especialy since it didnt lag even what i spawn 19 luke skywalker 3 mutantrancors 6 tauntauns 4 wampa's and 8 rancors =P

ive tested this level as hes made it, lowering the ceiling wouldnt be a good idea, because you would crash into it all the time just lifting off..

we think it might be that hanger is thinner in film and the ceiling has curved edges and actually goes slightly higher with lots of carbon freeze chamber like cables hanging from it, i have suggested putting lots of stalagmites or stalagtites in, especially at rear

Cool! I saw Duncan making models a long time ago on LucasForums, did he do AT-AT animations? That would be so awesome.

I wanted to do something like this a long time ago. All I got done was most of the terrain, but it turns out that JA wouldn't support large enough terrain for what I wanted to do, and I didn't have the motivation.

Glad to see someone else is doing it.

Bad? Try a PIII at 866 mhz.
Also, an At-At that was driveable would be nice. How it would work with the Snowspeeder, who knows?

the at-st's wil be reinforcements that are dropped after the first imperial objective is completed

(meaning an actual shuttle wil drop off a pod with an at-st npc)

Looks good, but its still a bit cut-and-dried (the walls of the hanger bay). In other words, the walls look a but too much like the ones found in the old N64 game Shadows of the Empire (there's nothing wrong with that, but JA is capible of so much more!)

maybe because i used the trenches from the siege hoth map for now and i dont have the .map of the original sp hoth i wish i did tho

Thank GOD... I hate the fact that there is sith and jedi in all the seige maps... I've longed for a seige map where you can actually use tactics of your squad rather then relying on the sith to jump over the obstacle or force speed to the next point... makes the game kinda interesting... but lame at the same time.

Nice map and good progress... It'll be a sure download if you do it right.

Well, I don't trust the "vader must survive" objective. I don't know if you should let whole teams and the game rest on the shoulders of a NPC.

Maybe there should be a third team that controls Vader, yet is allied with the imperials. This way, you trust the fate of the game to one man (as opposed to one npc).

I don't know if this would be possible, but it would be very cool. I think it would be tight to have Vader be able to be selected by one person, and have it so he spectate the whole game, however, his body stays wherever it spawns. That way vader will not get bored, and yet you still have to protect him.
