Just checking, did you turn the gouraud distance and perspective distance (in the level header) really high? If not, you probably should; they control the distance at which the engine renders things worse (gouraud distance is for smooth/flat shading. Not sure if perspective actually does anything on newer video cards. I think JK forces perspective when 3d acceleration is on)

Yes, perspective is automatically used with 3d accel. It only affects the software renderer. Shred had actually already shown pics of this level. In his first shots of the Goku SS3 model. (Comparison between old and new).

Btw, is that meant to be a magnetic field he's generating around that glowing ball? Are those small bits of floating debris meant to be metal?

What do you mean about magnetic field? It's little rays of alpha blended light.

And the floating debris is meant to be rock. It's several chuncks in one 3do designed years and years ago, but it's to be replaced rather soon by individual-physics-influenced well, rocks. (that are textured like rocks and not metal)
