...In the city of blinding lights.

Just a quick shot, building textures courtesy of Schwenz, skybox courtesy of Der Kommissar.

[EDIT: I suppose I should mention that I plan to incorporate vehicles into this -- multiplayer, if I can get it to work right. The other thing I should mention is that the entire level is 3do]

Looks nice... though the skybox texture looks really stretched, so do the other ones though.

Where did you get the textures though? I seem to have one of them, but certainly not the rest.

Looks good.

Those look like Max Payne textures. (They were released I believe, so if they are its all good).

Looks awesome.

Very cool, love the fire escape.

Cool textures btw

Pretty cool. Although I don't like the all 3DO part. That means you can't go into buildings... :(

By the way, where did you find the Max Payne textures?

With the exception of the fire escape, all I see thus far are rectangular prisms with single textures slapped on them...

This is also quite rectangular. :)

But the point is that HIS building there has more than 5 polies. :p

Yeah... one whole side of a building being one face and one texture is a bit bland... at least break up ground level with some doors or something. Also fix the texture misalignments... the building on the left could use a little stitching.

Just a quick point -- this level is massive. Using all 3do achitecture, without a proper culling cog the entire level will be visible to the engine, and will slow it down extraordinarily badly. Also note that most of them are more than six polys, since they do have crown and corner details -- and I have yet to finish making all the 3dos. I only have a small selection thusfar.

Also, I got the textures from the WadFather, and I listed the names given to me by them in my first post.

Here's an alleyway, with dumpster (yes, photorape...) and fire escapes:

And here's a shot of the as yet entirely unfinished parking garage:

The garage looks great! How will it play without interiors, though? Also, FGR: my building does have an interior, and while I concede that much western modern architecture is boxy, I was assuming based on LV's pics that his buildings were simple rectangular prisms.

Neato, I've always liked that texture set. One thing: having a building with the same texture used vertically as well as horizontally (e.g., the one on the right) looks strange.
2005-06-23, 12:29 PM #19
Yes, that does look a little odd.

Actually, it would technically always be dark, because the city causes blindness. =P

Can't most blind people detect changes in light though? Unless their eyes are literally ripped from their sockets.

I still can't see it, in FF or IE. :(

It makes no sense, especially since images are working in every other thread.

Looks great - can't wait to see the finished product (I especially like massive, explorable levels).

And vehicles, you say? :em321:

I can see all the pictures (and that tripod link) just fine...

I agree with the observations about the rotated texture.

NO IT IS NOT! I have had no problem with ANYTHING else, except for this site. I wouldn't trust Tripod with anything - are you sure the bandwidth hasn't run out?

Yeah, global DNS synchronization doesn't always work. You can try to type the ip in the url bar (209.202.240.100).
