Capes don't work well in JK, although it's probably more possible with Jerec as he has his own animations.

Capes are possible if they're modeled and animated correctly. It's not easy but it's definitely possible.

THE ARMS! THE AAAAAARMS!

Seriously! The arms are much too long! I'm not sure about the forearms, but his elbows are way too far down on his body. He needs shorter upper arms, and probably shorter forearms.

I'm not sure what you're talking about SMOCK, the arms look fine to me. I even stood with my hands to the side like the model is, and my proportions are the same: hands end in the middle of the upper leg, elbows around the waist.

Oh! It's not the arms. I think I figured out the problem. The real problem is in the upper legs. They're making the arms look wierd, even though the arms are the correct relative proportions.

Behold my examples.
In the first example, to make the body complete, Jerec's pelvic region must be really ... long. See how wierd it looks?

In the second example to make the body complete the thighs must be freakishly long to reach the normal sized pelvic region.

So see?! The major points of the arms are falling in the right places. It's just those right places that are in the wrong places.

also, remember, he migth be wearing that belt a little high and the suit might be baggy in places and tight in others, the elbow joint you claim is too low might just be the fabric bunched up where a tight part meets a baggy part.

also, it's not ingame, shred has said many times that the models often look out of proportion in the modeling program, but look just fine ingame, wait for an ingame screen before you completly slam the model.

SMOCK! ARE YOU NUTS? Do you NOT realize that his jacket is draped over his entire waist and some of his upper thighs?? That's not a long PELVIC REGION!! It's a freakin' LONG JACKET!! Gahahhhahhhrg!!

*smacks forehead and sighs

I still can't believe the crap Shred puts up with in here. He takes the beatings, bites his tongue and always emerges VICTORIOUS. He's like a... a SAMURAI!!

Wow. I can't believe the crap I'm getting right now. Did I say that his jacket was a long pelvic region. No. I was giving two examples of what was possibly wrong with the model. I was giving two examples because I couldn't tell which it was because of the long jacket.
Also, I am not "completely slamming" Shred's work, as Grant said. And I am going to wait for an ingame model, now that I know that it sometimes looks better in-game. I fully appreciate Shred's work. I cannot model at all. All I can do is draw, and I see a problem with the proportions in his model. That is all. (Anyway, at least I'm not here nitpicking about how the model "doesn't look old enough" or whatever.)

While I am going to wait for an in-game model, I am also going to show you why I'm not just yelling out random stuff, and why I'm right about something.

BEHOLD
[http://lpritchett.org/shhhh/propman.JPG]
Normal proportions in a crappy MSPaint edit. That big blue thing is the guy's thigh, measured from his belt area, to what I think is his knee. I placed the bottom of that section at the belt area, and see how it comes to the very top of his neck? (Imagine he is looking straight forward and not smiling) Good.

NOW
[http://lpritchett.org/shhhh/propjerec_fix.JPG]

Jerec's proportions. Measured from his belt (which looks to be about in the same place as the above guy) to the knee and the belt upwards. On Jerec, the thigh is longer, and comes up to the middle of his face! The region between his legs and belt is too long. What I was trying to show (and failing, apparently) is that you can't tell if the legs are too long because the pelvis is too long or the legs are too long.

And now I wait for either something to show me how I'm wrong or right.

Jerec is wearing tailored military style trousers at the proper height.

Here is an orthographic shot. It's pointless to complain about the limb proportions people, This model matches up to ky.3do.

As for quality, I simply don't care. The textures get resized to 256x256 pixels, and most of the detail is lost. Then there is JK's collision system, which doesn't let you get that close to the model. The only reason I worked on sariss that much is because I'm using it in my portfolio (and I will eventually replace it)

OMG SHRED, YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO PLEASE ME ON THE BASIS THAT I HAVE AN OPINION! WHY DON'T YOU UNDERSTAND THIS LOGIC!?

I can't believe people don't understand the concept of criticism, even after we've posted our reasonings a billion times. If people complain about proportions and whatnot again, I'm convinced you just don't read posts anymore.

The proportions are correct, but what makes it look wrong is that the belt is up around his waist SMOCK. You can (female dog) about Star Wars fashion, but not about the proportions. So comment on the model, not each others criticism. Now, can we all be happy people, or at the very least, be calmed down some?

Now, onto the important stuff, the model. I see a fine line down the middle of the model around his chest. Also, he doesn't look as old as he should be. Otherwise, I really like, but I'm pro-cape. :p

I think the proportions and everything are fine now, the only thing I would improve (as I've said a few times) is the span of the shoulders and chest and probably the thickness of the thighs. He looks too wimpy right now, the actor has quite an imposing physique.

I agree fully with this. Jerec looks almost like a stick figure in game (or maybe the animations/angle of shot are contributing to this as well?)
Otherwise, the model is incredible. I think the skin is fine.

Anyone here an expert on bones? Facial tones? Age? I keep hearing all these elaborate reasonings why Shred's model isn't up to your standards, yet I still fail to see why any of you are right. Please, unless you have a suggestion that carries marrit [Like the bald spot one, that was a pretty obvious mistake], stop throwing your limitless knowledge at us. We appreciate your volumes and years of experience, but Shred's been modeling and studying the human body for about 3 years now. Kthxbai.

I'm just saying that for some reason, likely one of the three reasons in my post, that he appears a bit awkward. I dunno, maybe it's just me, maybe it's not one of those reasons... I don't know. I just know that I think that something doesn't look quite right in the ingame shots
