Why is the answer to why always why? Why is there no final answer to why? Simply why not? Holy cow, this is pretty deep, meaningful **** I wrote. Glad I wrote it down. Oh man."

Can you show me the post where someone claimed to be an expert? I must have missed it somewhere. Because otherwise it's not really valid.

Modeller: "Here's a model I made."

Viewer: "Um it has no head"

Angry Person: "Who do you think you are, some kind of expert?"

I know it's a gross exaggeration, it's intended to demonstrate the logic that I'm seeing in this situation. The only malice I'm seeing in this thread is coming from the rebirth team members other than Shred. He's not freaking out over it, why should you? I never act like this when people criticize what I do. I listen to what they have to say and weigh it against what I think, and decide what the best way to go about things is. Shred appears to be doing this too. I've had people "defend" me in my threads before, and I can tell you it was really awkward, and that Shred is anything like me he doesn't really want you guys doing this. If he isn't, then he isn't, but so far he's come off as very professional and cool-headed and you guys are kind of destroying that effect. :p

In summary, chill out and let Shred defend himself if he thinks that's necessary. This is a Massassi Showcase thread.

Okay, that last non-in-game shot made me a bit happier, I don't know why. Maybe something was changed, and maybe it wasn't. I don't know. The in-game is a lot better too. Who knows. I will still agree with those who are saying that the thighs need to be fattened up a bit.

Now, it appears that people seem to think that I've been being really irrational and angry when I haven't (well, I have been angry, but not at Shred). I certainly don't try to piss people off when I post criticism. Maybe it's the writing style I've been using that's making people mad. Whatever. Sorry, Shred, if I came off sounding wierd. The rest of you, I'm not sorry.

Now, Thrawn#* is right. You don't have to be an expert in the human form with years of study to know when a human body looks wierd. You've grown up looking at humans all your life. Something in your brain is triggered when a body doesn't look quite right and it irks you.

He's also right about not jumping to Shred's defense. I want to hear the artist's opinions about my criticisms, not someone else's.

I happen to speak to Shred on occasion, considering we're working on the same mod, and I for one know he doesn't like random criticism that isn't very warrented.

Also, I'm half joking when I post like that :-P

I think he looks great. A cool interpretation of the cutscene-jerec. His appearance is not arrogant/insane/dominant enough, but I know that such attributes are very difficult to reproduce, as they are a result of the final instance (model, skin, animations, sounds) of the character. Anyway, I think you should always post a comparison with LECs original model, as some of the guys here might have forgotten how bad they look.

Most of the criticism is valid, the backlash is pointless and a bit mean. I'll say, however, that while this isn't "true to the original model" it looks extremely similar to the actor who portrayed Jerec in the cutscenes. Facial shape, etc.

I also doubt (perhaps due to ignorance) that Shred himself is an expert on facial bones, musculature, and skin tone? I don't believe that detracts in any way from his ability to create an excellent model... but by the same line of reasoning, it doesn't detract from anyone's ability to criticize said model.

WERD UP.

Well I think this one looks great. He has a pretty realistic look about him in game, and when shred widened his neck my only real complaint was fixed. The actual DJ model that you fight at the end of the game is quite thin compared to the cutscene actor and I think shred's model finds a great balance between the two. He really looks like the actor.

At first I thought the head looked two tall on top, but it passes the even distance from eyes test. It just sort of tricks you because jerec has a heavily receded hairline that makes his head look long.

Not much you can do about the scarf looking stiff, that would require some signifigant animating work to make it look right. I might hug it closer to the body to make it look less obvious though.

Somehow, he reminds me of Jason Alexander. Name the resources with a 'constanza' prefix!

[edit]Also, that comparison shot it with a re-skinned kyle; it's the multiplayer jerec skin. IIRC, the actual jerec model is different.

Amaizng job, though the tattoos seemed a little off.

Anyway, quick question:

While everyone is like taking this shots from Jedi Knight, can someone get a shot of Jerec's lightsaber for me really fast from the ending cut scene? I dunno how to take screen shots in the game (Unless its print screen) from cut scenes, and I lost my JK CDs.
I can't think of anything to put here right now.

Exactly what I thought...If it werent for the weird eyes that jerec has, that would look exactly like George.
