I wasn't really expecting that much positive feedback. Personally, as a showcase, I'm rather disatisfied with it. However, as a first pass, I thought it was worth some input.
I did want to address a few ponts.
1.) The textures on the buildings are still the same low-res 8-bit textures. I've got some of their replacements done and some of them not. I want to keep the 8-bit versions on the buildings at least for now. The color-depth and resolution isn't all that noticable from the level...for now (it'll largely depend on what results I get back during beta testing. Developing this on my work computer is producing some slow downs for them as they are). As for the level itself, they are all new higher res and 16-bit color depth textures. Some of the textures were already at the max resolution. For those, the best I could do is remake them with 16-bit color depth and add a few more things here and there. The idea, this early on is not to stray to far from the original. I want it to feel like an enhancement and not a total recreation.
2.) If you notice in the cutscene the cantina was fairly high up in the building. Keep in mind that I'm combining the first two levels so I have to leave room for the descent as well.
In saying that, they'll probably be adjusted again before release.
3) Stars are difficult to see in a city.
