Random thoughts:
- I swear there's already a fan film with this name.
- The ships indeed look like they're made of rock.
b - I see no shaders, at least not complex ones, just flat textures. Engines look like they aren't running at all, and the ships only look like wet rock, not metal.
- You're aiming for realism and hitting the mark of obviously fake.
- The planet is passable. But, it's a teal blob mostly. It could use a little detail.
- Light source aimed at the ship is different from the one aimed at the planet. Doesn't make sense the light side of the ships are the dark side of the planet.
- The ships don't appear to be moving, it's obviously the camera. I suggest a stationary camera that doesn't move or tilt (and if so, not much) and have the SDs move by them, at varying speeds. This will help make it evident who is moving.
b -Camera moves way too fast.
- Clipping issues on the back of the SDs.
- If you worked for a commercial animation company and submitted that as part of a finished product, I'm fairly sure you'd be fired.
