In the second to last shot, are those light beams coming from outside or from lights in the walls? The way they overlap looks kind of strange. Maybe they could be shortened?

In the first shot of your last post, the wall with the two windows needs some details. Maybe a small pillar running down the center or something. It just seems really flat. Very very nice work beyond that.

Looks sharp.

The main criticism I have for your work is that it is starting to "repeat" itself. Perhaps try to break up some of the repeating with some details? It doesn't have to be drastic details, something even like a crack on the wall (which can be applied with a decal!). Also playing with the intensities of the lighting and making them slightly different can add that element of detail. For example, one of the lights can be operating a lower efficiency?

That's awesome. But I have to disagree with Echoman a little. Repetition is a tool, like anything else. Understand it, use it, and master it - but don't be afraid of it. Your line of identical cement columns looks great the way it is, but that hallway you filled with debris did not.
Wikissassi sucks.
2008-02-21, 5:40 PM #53
I disagree to a certain extent there Isuwen. I will agree that the coridoor with debris doesn't look great, but it does look much better than before. I think that could be fixed merely by spreading the debris out a bit more away from the rock face. It looks a little odd how they've all fallen straight down and stopped.

Rocks roll.

Apart from that threads like these just reminds me how bad my JO/A mapping was.

:P
nope.
2008-02-21, 5:55 PM #54
Oh, no, you misconstrue. The hallway with debris looked crappy BEFORE. It's what I was referring to with 'That's awesome'. Hence, past tense : 'did not'.
Wikissassi sucks.

You guys are picky bastards. :P

Maybe I should just make box after box and then your suggestions will be less precise and more 'yeah whatever, good work.' :tinfoil:

The rocks shouldn't be spread evenly across the hallway. They should look like they have been push aside as they fall. Maybe one or two out in the middle would indicate that they have fallen without being pushed to the side yet.

I will say this: for identical concrete columns, atleast map the textures differently for each (ie. scroll them different amount for each). It's a small detail but noticeable. I'm not against repetition, but I will state it is a tricky element to use. And I didn't just mean one concrete corridor, I meant all 3 pics together. From what I can gather, all 3 pics are of one general area.

And we should call it "concrete" columns. You wouldn't want to use just cement for columns.

Shouldn't we call it "duracrete" columns? :v:

How is the fire coming out of both sides of the pipe? Wouldn't whatever is fueling it only be flowing one direction?
Wikissassi sucks.
2008-02-24, 3:25 AM #63
In that screenshot ages ago with the red circle pipe, if you want it to be a perfect circle you need to grab the vertexs on the corners and bring them in towards the centre a bit. I presume you know that though, because your mapping looks pretty badass.

I really like it, looks like a strongly built level, and good quality throughout.

@ the sfx. Why would they be coming out the side of the pipe at all? It broke at the join, not halfway through the straight section. Also, those fires need supporting light entities, or else they look out of place.

If you have trouble moving crates around with the texturing staying in place, you can turn them into .ASE models and save yourself some trouble.

So I kinda got into an accident a couple weeks ago, and as such the car is in the shop for the week, and I'm stuck at my dads place. That's the reason for the delays recently, I'll get right back to work on it once I get back to my own computer.

If there is a thing I like in these shots Zell, it's the sheer amount of detail, that makes each screenshots a joy to look at. If you ever need a beta-tester for this map, I'm your man...

Hey Gana, glad to see you around. Your drawnings and paintings are stunning as usual.
