Nice pics :D

There should be a slider in the options that lets you control the intensity of the bloom feature, because lots of people can't stand it.

They look pretty to me, and Jon'C has some nice lum maps on those JK textures.

Yeah, rock on.
One day, after everybody else quits, I'll be the best.

No, you're the one being a dick. You, and you alone. You started in my thread by saying you're disappointed, you don't understand the problem domain so your criticisms are not constructive, and you're flooding my thread with pictures and aspie bull**** that nobody cares about.

**** off, kid.
2011-01-02, 5:39 PM #43
u mad?
2011-01-02, 5:55 PM #44
You were being the ass first, Xzero. If you can't come up with anything properly constructive or even understanding what he's doing, don't post. Next off-topic remark nets you a ban.
2011-01-02, 8:59 PM #45
He accuses me of theft, discriminates against my age, disregards my technical abilities and skillset (something he knows nothing of), tells me to "**** off, kid" and directly insults me after I try to express my opinion on what I think could use some work, and I get a ban warning? :carl:

Don't even bother man, I'll just leave if that's how it is around here. I'll just save my posts for my own threads.

For the record: I wasn't an ass first. I expressed my opinion and posted reference images of what I thought it should look like when things get overexposed and he called them garbage and told me to get out, in a very rude manner I might add, which is where this all started. I never meant to "hijack" his thread, only to help. But apparently he doesn't like help.

I should've just posted an image like this:

I suppose that would've saved a lot of trouble.

PS: This is my last post on the topic, so you can lay your ban-hammer to rest. I've got better things to do than to argue over a silly level viewer that loads a 14-year old games levels.

Time and again you've proven them to be a joke. So, not really.

You say that yet I'm the one with a job at Crytek. And you know, the fact that I got additive blending in JK, but it's all a joke, right?

Masturbate in private, dude.
2011-01-02, 9:39 PM #49
Ok, that one was good. :neckbeard:
2011-01-02, 9:43 PM #50
Jesus, Xzero's bloom example would look so horrible with all of the emissive lights on every other level.
2011-01-02, 9:44 PM #51
Xzero, if you want to brag about getting a job at Crytek by copying and pasting rthdribl you can post your own thread about it, okay?
2011-01-02, 9:51 PM #52
I would but that's not how I got the job. :P

Are you going to elaborate on your HDR or not?
2011-01-02, 10:16 PM #53
A job as an artist or programmer? If the latter, I know where I'm never going to apply. Hiring standards say a lot about a company.

Funny enough, both.

So this is just a level viewer and has absolutely nothing to do with in-game rendering?

-Well, it's at least a nice level viewer...

Modifying the JK executable to do this wouldn't be worth anyone's time.

You kinda did with words like: stupid soft glow, unrealistic, not a compliment, you just need to do it right.

Opinions = *******s, everyone has them

Yeah, getting a job in the game industry is hardly brag-worthy. It just means you're willing to work twice as long for half as much money as you could get anywhere else.

On a similar note, Sige got hired by Lucasarts as a graphics programmer a little after we ditched Sith 2.

ok just to nullify the name calling in this thread.
EVERYONE SHUT UP!
LMAO.

Anywho, While realistic or unrealistic, the light glow in JK is impressive regardless of how its done.
As editors we struggle to bring our versions of reality to JK and MotS with weapons, textures, etc.
Some of the best examples of realism are over looked.
Lighting has always been my biggest issue.
So to see lighting thats almost realistic (or not depends on who ya ask), is amazing for me.
Everyone please stop with the criticism and remember why we're here.

Criticism is entirely the point of the showcase forum.

I don't have the time to polish/debug right now, but here's the viewer if anybody wants to check it out: http://nullptr.ca/showcase/jkl_view_04012010.7z

Install XNA 4 Runtime, extract to your JK directory with 7zip.

Run: game.exe [episode gob filename] [jkl filename]
e.g. to view Canyon Oasis you would run "game.exe jk1mp.gob m10.jkl"

Use H to toggle HDR. All other controls bound to WASD and the arrow keys, or the left and right control sticks of a 360 controller.

Again, this is by no means polished. It very likely won't work on your machine at all.

Emon I meant the personal criticism. Name calling, bad mouthing of jobs and or abilities.
I've taken my share of level criticism too.
But never personal attacks.

Emon: try running it with no command line arguments.

Pretty cool, much better to see it in person, seems to only work with maps using 8 bit textures.

I did, same problem.

Works just fine. Don't really see the point, though. Why are you duplicating JED and Sith in XNA? It is not a very well designed engine.
2011-01-04, 9:12 PM #68
Incidentally, it doesn't seem to be able to load anything from mlp4.gob.
2011-01-04, 9:14 PM #69
XNA isn't an engine

2011-01-04, 9:23 PM #70
I was referring to Sith. XNA is actually pretty nice.
2011-01-04, 10:13 PM #71
It only works with 8-bit textures by design.

I mean, the interesting part is the emissive map stuff.

She gets off on having threads being read to her?
Looks like we're not going down after all, so nevermind.
