Well... Considering it only runs at about 1fpMINUTE with everything on its absolute lowest with my crappy 9200se 128MB. I'll stick to waiting for HL2 which will be using a much better engine with the same features.

The engine looks way better than HL2's considering most of the "good things" of HL2 that you have seen are apparently scripted and not really AI and such. This game's editor looks awesome, and it looks sweet. Waiting for the DL to finish... but it really does look way better than HL2 from looking at what both games have shown to the public.

Eh? The only thing that comes to mind is the tentacle attacking that one soldier. As it was pointed out in the E3 movie, the exchange of gunfire, your friendly NPCs seeking cover, etc., was entirely AI and unscripted.

You probably havent seen the articles writen by the people who have the leaked demo. Since that's illegal i wont go on about it, but if you haven't already heard I will sum it all up. Valve apparently lied about a lot of stuff.

A lot of the stuff in there turned out to be scripted.....like the soldiers kicking in the door. Valve later admitted that the videos showed more how they "picture the AI being". Blah.

Yeah, it was a leaked beta, that doesn't mean that's how the game will turn out. They probobly scripted the sequences to make sure the AI did whawt they wanted for demo purposes.

Yeah I know, but I don't like that way of thinking when it comes to demonstrations like that....because there is no guarantee they WILL be able to get the AI to that level.

So, I downloaded the demo in about 10 minutes (after waiting for 60 minutes IN LINE on FileNazi) - installed the demo, tweaked my settings, and dived right into the game. It's very impressive. The graphics, the physics, the AI; it's amazing. The second time I played the mission, I jacked a raft with a gun mount, and some mercs on the mainland were alerted by my fire; so they jump in a raft of their own, and head straight for me. I start firing and take out the passenger, and he falls right into the water (ragdoll is so very, very nice); not only does he fall dynamically, but he also bleeds. His blood begins to float around in the water, then I was capped by the driver. The graphics are very distracting.

I run on a GeForce 3 Ti 200 64mb card, with 512DDR on a P4 2.80ghz processor. It ran pretty good with high/medium detailing, I'd say it was around 20-24fps. It's worth the download, and I'm definately going to be buying the game when it hits the shelves.

If they AI is as advanced as they were talking about, they wouldnt have had to script it to knock down the door. And no one is basing this on the leaked demo alone, valve also said that they were 'streching the truth.'

<3 Cable. Picked this up last night off a torrent.

Anyways, it's AWESOME. There are a few problems I have with it (that are mostly related to things I can live without, primarily my apparent inability to get the game to run with AA/AF), but I'm sold. The game looked awesome in videos, and they didn't let me down, if you ask me. It plays great, looks great... just...awesome...

Also, if you look around the island some you'll find a nice little surprise with which to....run people over... Its near a burned out and rusted Japanese Chi-ha tank. (These islands, apparently, were occupied by the Japanese in WW2, though I'm not sure if they're fictional or not.)

Donwloaded and tried it last night, it ran disapointingly **** on my system. Twas nice and smooth till I turned around and looked at the main island, then whenever looking in that direction I was lucky to get 1 frame every 2 seconds. Strangely enough there are no draw distance settings at all either. Driving the boat around the lagoon not looking at the main island was kinda fun, I suppose.

If you can find your torrent again, most clients will automatically check the existing data and allow you to continue.

The game seems to like a lot of Ram (I have 512, and the game still chugged in some parts) and a good graphics card (everything Radeon 9500 Pro and above, plus their Geforce FX equivalents).

Meh.. I cant say Im all that impressed, its pretty sure. I just dont get much out of it, the AI is extremely good at some points, and horrible at others, I see a guy taking cover and rolling around and such, but he has the ability to shoot me from a mile away with an M16? Also, just a bit buggy with the AI, I see them running into walls, trying to get through them.. Meh
