The MaDa Memorial...

Madaventor was one of Massassi's most prized members. With his upbeat and generally positive attitude, his willingness and spirit, and his love for editing the game Jedi Knight: Dark Forces 2, he meant more to us than most would think.

In memory of our friend, and editor, I have devised a plan to incorporate his textures and sabers into a level pack, and saber-mod. A colection of his 3DOs, Textures, and Sabers will be included in a Developers Kit. Anyone who would like to make a generally posative and favorable level or 3DO in his name can use the kit to design a level.

I'm here to ask for your ideas, suggestions, and help. I'm looking for a colection of all of his work, untainted. Everything we can possibly secure as MaDa's, we'll use.

I'd also like to include his levels, or make a pack of his levels stand-alone. More ideas on this, please.

I'd really like to get this started and ran ASAP, so the more replies, the better.

Help show your love and rememberence for Adam.

Those of you who have some of his textures, or all of them, no matter if you think someone's already sent them in, e-mail me a .zip file.

I'll upload the images one by one to my site. That way I can keep track of which ones I have, and which ones I don't have. Soon you'll be able to see if you've got any in advance to the one's we've already had submitted.

I'll try to scour the web for an archive of The Limelite. Hopefully I'll find one with images. I'll send what I can Kirb. Great idea.

I'm fairly a new gu here at massassi, way after Adams time, but I like what you're doing for this guy, I'm familiar with the Limelight. I would be interested in doing a map with these textures. I would have you all preview it first to make sure it doean't suck.

a few of us "morning-#massassians" are discussing registering TheLimeLite.net and writing up some memorial stuff there and using that to host some textures and this level pack / saber mod.

anyway, i could use some suggestions, comments, donations, etc.

I thought about it last night, and I've come up with the following list of rules.

- All levels must include as many of Adam's textures as possible.
- The comment section of the level (The load screen) will include a small 'Note' to Mada. Make it as personal as you want.
- Levels must be of good taste. Nothing offensive or hateful towards anyone.
- (I'm not so sure about this one) The religious views should not be included within the levels. In your messege to Mada, you may say anything you like. But the level shouldn't be the gates of heaven, or the gates of hell. We'd like to keep it as nuetral as possible.

I can't seem to remember much of anything else, I'll post more as it comes to me.

Keep those textures comming in. We've already got 11 from Mega, but we need as many as possible.

I'll start a Madaventor level pack tonight, a compile of all his old and new levels.

I don't see why not. There could be a JK level pack file and another file for 3dos, JO/JA levels, and other maps and resources that aren't in the level pack. Or something like that. We'll figure it out.

I'm going to go pick up JK at the store this afternoon for whatever it's going for now.. $5? $10? And get started right away.. [EDIT: Does anyone have any idea what stores might have it? I'm under the impression that it will be hard to find since it's a little older. Please reply if you know! Thanks!] Checksum and lucky_jackpot, you'd better get ready to start crankin' out some cogs soon! [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif]

=) Thanks Is!

You can just have http://www.thelimelite.net/ redirect to http://mzzt.atronox.com/thelimelite/ if you want, or you can copy the whole thing elsewhere to a Brian Lozier-hosted site if you want. Just ask me and I'll zip it up for you.

[Edit: Walmart had JK last time I checked, you might have a chance of finding it there, interestingly enough. If not, GameStop might have it. If not, then you can order it online from the LucasArts Company Store.]

It said something about showcasing his sabers - are they LEC style sprite sabers? Madaventor *was* a texture dude, if that's the kind of sabers we're showcasing, I've already been working on just the thing.

Just my two cents, but I would think the best way to pay respect to a great editor would be to make a level that everyone would enjoy playing a game in as well as paying respect. Best way to keep a gamer's spirit alive, right?

I made a subdomain for the limelite.

I also checked the domain's availability. It seems that it was meant to expire in October, but for some reason has not been released by the company, and thus, cannot yet be registered.
