Why do some sigs appear twice?

It appears that the importer sucked in the old sigs as part of the message, but the new system tags it on later (so if you edit your sig, it will be edited in all posts, not just "from now on" posts). Is this a big deal?
2004-09-03, 9:05 AM #5
I like how your sig changes in all your posts when you change it. Leave it! :)

We're currently unable to edit our own posts.

I see what happened.. .lemme explain.

Infopop's forum system tagged sigs on by making them part of the actual body (same with edit tags).

This forum does not, so the body of the post (with the infopop sig) appears with the sig after it.

Mmmm I like this new forum. :D

theres a big white bar at the top of the screen, it seems pointless.
2004-09-03, 9:11 AM #9
The image you have attached is too big, the image cannot be bigger than 800 x 0.

[Edit: That's because the old icons are too small, septic.]

That will certainly be removed in the coming week once I get used to how to edit styles and whatnot

At this point in time, the Forum of Juztyn seems to have not been imported. Was this an oversight, or am I just ungodly impatient?

If I import that, it will be visible to all. Is that what we want?
2004-09-03, 9:20 AM #14
I want to be able to login from everywhere, not just the forums index page.
Looks like we're not going down after all, so nevermind.

Actually, I see what you are talking about, there are no posts. Now that is really bad... I'm not sure what to do. Let me think about it for a while, I may be able to modify the importer to pull just those and figure out what's going on. You'll have to give me a few days.

I didn't even see the SWG forum when I did the import. What forum number is it?
2004-09-03, 9:37 AM #18
It was 11 on the old forums. 18 here.

If someone wouldn't mind hopping on over to this thread and editing out my cuss word, I'd appreciate it. I hadn't realized there were no swear filters.

You'll also want to:

  • Remove e-mail thread notification, set it to no by default
  • Make the default for e-mailing on private messages be off

We can't edit our posts!

EDIT: Scratch that. Wolfy, I just figured out it's because we've been clicking on the wrong edit button. For some unfathomable reason, the buttons for each poster are below their post! not above! Hahah, this needs to be changed.

When you quote someone, it quotes their Signature.

I suggest hacking the font and color lists and make the following changes:

- Use font-trees from the known fonts down to the basic system fonts (serif/sans/fixed) so that the forums don't look cruddy on systems which don't have the standard fonts.

- Limit the colours to ones which are relatively easy to read on the dark background.

- Use the actual font in the entry for that font in the menu.

Also, make the background of the drop-down menus the same as the thread backgrounds.

The only things I'd like to see, not really problems but, location displayed under username and the "who's online now" thing.

puut the quote, edit, profile, etc buttons back on top. its confusing to have them on the bottom.

Oh, and custom titles!

[never mind, already fixed.]

and let us delete our own posts, too.

My only real beef right now is that the suject lines for the threads are squished by the stuff on it's right, including what I feel is a rather useless "rating" column. The only other thing I noticed is that quotes from the old/carried over posts have some broken tags, apparently because it used a different font or something...

That, and I'm trying to figure out if I'm still a moderator or not, and how some people have snifty personalized tags/titles under their names.

Is that the old sigs on the old thread, or does it happen to brand new threads as well? I would bet it's just the old one and it will calm down as new threads are created.

Yeah, that is really annoying, I am going to use the old forum icons and put them on the new forums and get rid of all those crappy purple buttons. Don't worry!

Umm, for some reason it keeps subscribing me to half the treads i go onto

having no swear filters is a good thing. freedom of expression!!!!!!!

I suggest that we don't use * for blocking out swears but use word replacement in brackets instead. Even better to use star wars theme words too. Like if someone said "oh sh*t", it would say [oh sith spit] instead :p
