CM: Not you too.

All consoles have games that other consoles don't. That really shouldn't matter.

Heh, I thought that too... but DJ is actually replying to another guy. That is why he used the most annoying emoticon " " on me. For heaven sakes I hate that thing.

Edit: DJ, that means your parody was indeed not as readily apparent as you thought.

Graphics are only as good as the people who develop their engines. Gran Turismo 4 could arguably be one of the best looking games of all time, yet it is on the PS2. Snake Eater (and MGS2) both have some of the best graphics seen in a game, and they are on a PS2. Hardware wise, Xbox wins. However, it's up to the developers to take full potential of the hardware given to them.

I pick the PS2 because I lov eit's controller (fits MY hand like a glove, which is all that matters, cuz I don't care if it doesn't for your hand). It has some of my favorite games of all time (MGS2, GT3, all the GTAs, Final Fantasy, and more) and it also has the best lineup of games this fall with games such as Snake Eater, PoP 2, Gran Turismo 4, San Andreas, and right there are 4 of the best games of the year.

Let me say once and for all. Console graphis stink. As do thier controls. Why any one would play it over thier PC is beyond me.

Because consoles games won't crash to desktop for no reason, become corrupted, cause a blue screen of death, don't have to be installed, etc.

Not true. Apparently you've never played the XBox.

Voting with Cool Matty on this one.

And, the best originality in games comes from Nintendo.

I actually like all three, but the 'Cube is my favorite.

That and Halo is god.

But yeah I agree with Buck. Except maybe Halo 2/Fable will hurt PS2 sales. Won't kill it for sure.

GTA, MGS, Silent Hill. If you can explain how those aren't original, I'll concede.

I've never gotten an error on my GC, but it seems each time I play an X-Box or PS2 game I get some kind of error, or the game freezes.*shrug*
Think while it's still legal.

I've played tons of XBox and PS2 games. Not a single error.

Indeed, even the ATARI had games with game-freezing problems.

But XBox seems plauged with them. Morrowind, for example, comes to mind, along with many others. There was a sports game that would corrupt the XBox harddrive too.

Morrowind it was the game. It screwed up on the PC more times than anyone can count. The sheer massiveness of it is the cause of that.

Never heard about the sports game.

PC beacause of Jedi Knight! :) And any other shooters... + JED or other editors! I don't play PC games I can't modify. And I can't modify any console game (Ok. I can make custom maps in the THPS games).

Isn't Nintendo a bit more childish while the PS2 is more addult? I don't know much, that's just a feeling. Probably because I only played Nintendo games like Mario, Wario, Donkey Kong, Kirby, Zelda (...), while on PS2 I played with Midnight Club II, Tony Hawks Pro Skater (all :) ), GTA Vice City (...).

Nintendo targets the younger consumer (below 12 I think), but they have a few adult-oriented titles. Some of their games are fun too (Animal Crossing, SSBM, Wario Wares, etc etc).

Yes, it is true Gamecube has more child-oriented games. But most of them are awesome in their own right.

But they definately have their share of adult titles. Resident Evil series, Eternal Darkness, etc.

He never said games for the PS2\XBox weren't original, he just thought that either Gamecube’s games were more original or the Gamecube has the widest variety of original games.

BMX XXX.

And I don't call the Gamecube original--I call it "Let's see what we can make a game out of". SOMETIMES, it'll do well, but most of the time, it'll go straight down the crapper.

i prefer the xbox over the other consoles. the controller fits in my hands perfectly, and all the games i want seem to be on xbox. plus, there's xbox live.

Hopefully you're talking about controller s, because if you're talking about the regular-sized XBOX controller, then you're a freak. I mean...no wait, that's what I mean. :p

I'm probably the ONLY person here who's like this.

I find the Controller S is the best controller for me during faster paced games. Halo comes to mind mostly. But when we play something slower paced, like Ghost Recon, I'll always take the normal controller if there's one around. I've never figured it out really why I do... The only reason I can think of, would be so my hands don't cramp up from doing nothing.

But for most things, Controller S > *

Isn't that what all games indeed are? So you are saying nothing is original? Indeed.

I dunno, their games are fun, and that is what matters. Just because Joe Blow doesn't like it, doesn't mean it isn't good. By that illogic, Titanic is the best movie of all time. I mean Mortal Kombat sold rather well. Depending on sales is lame as far as how good something is. Best example: AOL. So easy to use, no wonder it's #1 right?

GameCube has more child oriented games?

I'm willing to bet there are more Mary Kate & Ashley, Dora the Explorer, and Care Bear games on PS2 then there are GameCube.

The PS2 has Sky Odyssey! And the Tomb Raider games are playable on it. So for me, the PS2 wins. And I have many consoles.

Hell, I still play the SNES!

I didn't say anything about sales. Yay for assumptions!

By doing well I meant turn out well.

And no, that is not what all games are. Some try to improve on a tried and true method, and win (Call of Duty). It seems Nintendo just tries to be as random as possible, and hope for the best.

Yay for ninja edits!

Wow, you realise you are one of the few people who believe Nintendo doesn't try something new? They are called by many the innovaters of the gaming industry.
2004-09-05, 6:45 PM #79
Where did I say they didn't try new things. I said they're not the ONLY ones, and that they unduly get respect for it. Sony does a lot of new things--then they improve upon it. Rather than improving on the old stuff (which usually turns out well, as a more enjoyable game), Nintendo just randomly spews out games. That's...cool...I think.
