Yes.
And a side note: Cash is very soft, makes for a great bed.
But seriously, I've been saving up for a new PC for a while, and I can get pretty damn good deals through my parent's work. Granted, it's still expensive, but it's really not much more than $1000. (My mom gets the FX-53 for about $600, where the retail box goes for $843 on newegg. And I get a better warranty, and no shipping/handling/tax whatsoever.)
The reason I need this PC (and yes I mean NEED) is that I work a lot with video editing and some modeling software. The video editing requires a buttload of RAM, and a fast CPU. It also recommends a fast video card for real-time rendering (Which is helluva nice for getting a basic idea of how your video will turn out without rendering it.). It recommends a really high-end card, much higher than these gaming cards (think AGP Pro types, in the $1000 range), but that's out of my price range, and a little overkill considering I'm still not into it professionally. And it has the added bonus of being an absolute beast on gaming
Another reason is that this PC is a serious multitasker. It runs Win2k and Gentoo, both of which are set up for Internet sharing among the 3 other PCs in the house, and also have filesharing set up in both (Gentoo imitates windows' filesharing, so the PCs on the other end don't even see the difference. They access the same IP, with the same password, and they get the same material.), for games, email, and other stuff my parents and I do. The other PCs in the house have on average about a 6gig HD, just enough for a win2k installation. Everything else is on my PC, so they all access my PC to run programs, and play games. Also has the nice feature of all the PCs running UltraVNC servers (cept mine, so don't try you hackers! :p), so I can admin them without moving from my seat. Quite handy when my mom breaks something on the computer. (Why won't google come up?!!!!!!!!!)
Well, I've gone on enough on this subject
(Talk about a rant, holy cow!)
