Hostility towards Bush
2004-10-04, 4:02 PM #1
What's with all the hostility, I mean people are outright cruel like I've not seen them before, at least how I see it. You'd think the president deserves respect, and maybe that won't happen, that's not really the shocker. But I hear my friends go **** bush or everyone insults his intelligence or goes after him with personal or debasing remarks. Critizing policy, being constructive I understand. Calling him an *******, saying **** him, saying he should die. These things I don't understand, you really shouldn't treat any human like this. I'm not talking about Kerry either, I mean the population, from my perspective, and some of my friends.

Thoughts welcome on critism and presidency welcome; not on Kerry. I read about that article today where some teacher got fired for posting a picture of Bush next to other presidents on her post-it board too. Crazy stuff...

Well what about the way he treated Iraqi children by dropping bombs on them?

But seriously, I don't believe that under any other president anything would have been in the least bit different. I'm not saying there are no good people in the world, or that there aren't any good leaders, but that of the candidates running for president, all suck equally bad. I personally do not associate with Republicans/Conservatives and am about as left wing as one can possibly get, but I am annoyed with these Liberal wannabes that drop phrases like "I hate Bush", "I want Bush to die", "If I could kill Bush, I would". It's stupid and hypocritical.

Anyway, screw the idiots that can do nothing more than hurl insults on both sides. The person who holds the position deserves courtesy and respect regardless of whether or not I agree with their positions.

Are you kidding? He's a religious fanatic, and his disorted view of the world is causing people to die needlessly. Why should I have any respect for someone like this?

Call it hypocritical all you want. I wouldn't wish death on anyone if it was just a matter of disagreeing with their views and opinions, but Bush, and people like him (in power) are dangerous.

And the demand that they put up a picture of Kerry on the wall of presidents is a little presumptuous.

People like that lady should stand up for what they believe in. If it truly wasn't politically motivated, she could easily sue the school district for millions over losing her job for no reason. This is insane.
2004-10-04, 5:41 PM #19
The story made it seem like she posted pictures of every president on a bulletin board, and Bush is indeed a president. Doesn't seem politically motivated to me. Seems educationally motivated.

I hate stupid kids at school who base their political stance on something silly. Most of the kids at my school like whoever their parent are voting for, and because almost all of them no **** about politics or anything else in the world, to support their oh-so-educated opinion they use some silly joke usually related to intelligence or appearance.

Example:
"OMG BUsH I$ SO STOOPID, DOwN WIT BUSHHH!!!111!111!!!!!!"

Or here's a good one:

Me: "Hey, who do you like in the election?"
Friend: "Bush all the way man...yeah..."
Me: "Don’t like Kerry?"
Friend: "No way, he looks retarded when he smiles HAHAHEEEHAHAHHEWHAW."

God, I hope some of these people never vote. Ever.

Yes yes, and the republican party just loves kerry.

I dont think either side will ever shut up about how the other party's candidate sucks, and how they should be damned from the earth.

American politics is always so personal. I think it's silly that the emphasis seems to be on knowing "the man", rather than knowing what he actually stands for. Yes, a bloke come across as a nice guy, but that doesn't make him a good politician. It's his political ideology that's important, not what sort of person he is. I'm think here about the whole Clinton 'scandal'.

Quote:
"It happened on a small bulletin board near the American flag and also with a poster of the Declaration of Independence."

It's interesting that putting a phot of Bush up is controversial, but there's no debate at all about whether the American flag or the Declaration of Independance should be there or anything..

That story is really messed up. Even if she did put it up as a political thing, I would still think it was messed up, unless she took it too far. I can't help but wonder if there's more to the story though. I'll be cautiously outraged, just in case.

I think it's also really stupid to say things like "Bush should die". I can understand thinking we're better off if he croaked, but wishing death on him is another thing. Especially saying you'll do it yourself. That's just stupid.

Actually, it wouldn't do any good if he died. I think Bush himself isn't anywhere near as bad as the other people in the administration. Cheney would replace him. Cheney is more evil, but at least he's more sympathetic to gay rights. It might balance out. And if Cheney died too the person who's next in line is also a really horrible person.

Quote:

You would have had made a better point without the "Won't somebody please think of the children!?" factor. It comes off as melodramatic. If you just said "Iraqi people", that would have been better."

Bush has pissed away his respectability for a lot of people. Just because someone's president doesn't mean that they can't wase all their respect.

I kind of agree. I'm sure he's a nice person, but as a president I can't stand him.

What's really werd is that you don't think Musulms are religous fanatics.

For the first part of what you say, so what? Osama bin Laden made decisions based on his worldview.
The second part of your post is ridiculous. It's like what people were saying after the Abu Gharib abuse was made known to the public:
Person 1: This is an atrocity!
Person 2: At least we're not as bad as Saddam Hussein!

Quote:

I don't know if I'd call him hostile. More like apathetic about the disadvantaged and unwilling to listen to dissenting opinions.

Funny thing about this is, before the conventions, you'd see alot of republicans and republican-supporters criticizing Kerry for attacking bush rather than concentrating on himself. Now Bush is doing it, and they're all shutting up about it.

Actually, what's even worse, the Bush campaign has always been attacking Kerry, and people still criticize Kerry for attacking Bush. They don't even honestly attack Kerry.
There are connections between Bush along with the Republican party and the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth. Some of them are minor, but some seem pretty damning:
http://www.disinfopedia.org/wiki.phtml?title=Swift_Boat_Veterans_for_Truth_Republican_Connection

Remember that Bush ad that had Kerry saying "You can't fight communism worldwide" and then it cuts to Ronald Reagan and then the Berlin Wall falling, then it says "Kerry: Wrong then, wrong now" That was stupid. First of all, they were obviously taking advantage of Ronald Reagan's death, and also, the Berlin Wall falling doesn't prove Kerry wrong at all.

Oh man! Are they still doing the whole communism = evil thing? Heeeeeee, I totally thought everyone was over that, like 20 years ago. You'd think that they might learn after Vietnam that 'fighting communism' probably isn't a very good idea, and most of the 'horrible dictators' as decried today are in power because the CIA put them there to replace socialists, and the dictators have to brutally oppress the population because the population actually want their socialists back.

The opinions of the individual teachers have no place in the classroom. Their job is educate, to give children the facts, and let them make up their own mind. Yes, telling them "George W. Bush is currently the President of the US" makes sense in a current affairs lesson. You should also tell them "Kim Jong Il is the Premier of the People's Republic of North Korea" and do so in exactly the same way as you would with Dubya. Why not put a picture of Kim Jong Il next to Bush?

Actually, compiling a big collage of photos of the various heads of state of countries across the world would look quite nice, and be useful too!
