Dude! Read the first rule IBTL.

If you didn't like either canidate, you shouldn't have voted. Does that make sense to you? The choices were: Vote Bush, Vote Kerry, Vote Nader, or Don't Vote. If I don't like Bush, I ask myself if I like Nader. If I don't like nader, I ask myself if I like kerry. If I don't like any of them, I DON'T VOTE.

If someone offers you chocolate icecream, vanilla icecream, or taco icecream, and you don't like icecream, do you flip a coin and take that one? No. You don't take icecream.

Essentially, your vote put a sway on the entire presidential election. If 20 people in every state did what you did (And I fear that number is probably far higher than we might think) than we'd have no control over who is our president. The thing about voting, is the control you have over your country. If you vote, you're willing to take responsibility for the country's actions. You voted the president in. By flipping that coin, you take away everyone's power in this country.

You need to realize that it's your right to vote. It's not your right to take votes away from other people, no one has that right.

Oh, and those people who vote no matter who's running? They're still voting on ideals. Maybe those ideals aren't correct, maybe they are. But if everyone in the us feels the way those people do, than it's only right that the canidate they feel this way about be president.

Telling people to shut up because they won't believe your opinion as truth is a way to show that you're ignorant to reality. Instead of telling people to shut up, maybe you should take the time and listen to them, just as they have to you.

Dude, stop with the mini-modding. It's annoying as hell and makes everyone like you even less (if that's even possible).

Just to reiterate:
STOP IT!!!

SAJN, what the hell is the point when you live in the in the Rockies, midwest, or south? Bush is going to get those states whether you vote for Bush, Kerry, Nader, or those other two guys.

The problem isn't ice cream, it's the flavors. In which case flipping a coin is perfectly sound. But that is a bad analogy anyway.

Oh my god, get off your soapbox. That is blatantly ridiculous. 20 people in each state doesn't mean anything. If 10,000 people in each state flipped a coin, that might make a difference. But not 20. And neither does 1. Get off that BS saying that "every vote counts." Individual votes do not influence anything. It's groups of votes that influence the outcomes. And his decision to use a coin does not affect how anyone else uses their rights.

He isn't taking a vote from anyone. It's HIS vote. He doesn't have control over any other person's vote. It's his very own vote and no one elses. Votes are culmulative, not advesarial.

Telling people how to use their rights because they won't accept your way of doing things as the only method is a way to show that you're ignorant to reality and supremely arrogant. Instead of telling people how to use their rights and freedoms, maybe you should realize that how they use their right to vote is none of your business and you have no authority to them that the way they are using their rights is wrong.

If 10,000 people flipped a coin, I figure the law of averages would hold. The difference in votes for two candidates would be minimal.

Master Tonberry, thank you getting back on the original topic.

jedikirby, I voted because its my right to vote. If I dont vote then I'd of heard an endless amount of crap from my parents, family and coworkers. My boss said it best, he doesn't care who I vote for, at least I was voting, and this guy is a former Army Air Ranger and as hardcore Republican as they come.
I can't think of anything to put here right now.

OMG TEH COIN FLIP!1!! WTH END OF TEH WORLD!!! NOOOOO!!!!

He flipped a coin to decide his vote...big whoop. There are many thousands of people who do dumber things to decide who to vote for. Flipping a coin is quite practical. NOW GET OVER IT!

But yeah, your mom shouldn't supress your rights because she doesn't agree with your veiws. I suppose that if election time was drawing near and you still didn't have your card, you could contact your city hall and get another one.

How are you involved in politics, aside from debating on Massassi and personal research? (Just out of curiosity, not trying to debate your "informedness")

I disagree, that is a damaging attitude. I hate how it's always a two horse race in the US presidential elections. It seems like it leads to very poor party representation.

Maybe it was a double-headed coin...

In any case, I don't think either (any) candidate would care how you decided to vote for them -- only that you did vote for them.
May the mass times acceleration be with you.

I agree with whoever said flipping a coin is stupid. If you don't have an opinion, don't vote.

He laughed, and asked who I ended up voting for. He still doesn't care. Get over it.

LonelyDagger, believe me, I found it ironic too that I was flipping a coin and that Kerry won.
I can't think of anything to put here right now.

Even if you think flipping a coin to decide who you're going to vote for is wrong, it's not like you can stop it. What are you going to do? Make coin flipping a crime? People would just form secret coin-flipping societies, or flip coins in the privacy of their own homes. The government would impose a cloin-flipping equivalent of TIPS where it is your patriotic duty to watch your neighbors for any suspicious coin-related activity and report it to the coin police. There would also be a color-coded awareness meter for warning people of impending mass coin-flipping of doom.

Or you could just ban coins. Immense resources would be wasted on tracking down coin dealers and coin possessors, not to mention the legal and accommodative costs from lawsuits and sending people to jail. People would form a neo-hippie movement demanding the legalization of coins, and no one likes neo-hippies.
Looks like we're not going down after all, so nevermind.

Hey now that's cool if the Kirby image wasn't so lame.
2004-11-04, 10:37 AM #107
I have to say, I do agree with Kirby. If you don't like either candidate, write in someone you do like, or don't vote. Voting for who will fill an important position as the commander in chief on such a whim is rather irresponsible. Sure, you voted, but you're not voting for yourself, you're voting just because you can.

I suggest you threaten your mother with legal action next time she tampers with your mail.
