If someone smokes Ciggarettes and ends up dieing from it, would they goto hell for "committing suicide"?!

These people SMOKE of their own accord. And when they do, this MARKS their body... and if you are catholic, you are not allowed to mark your body (tatoos etc.) because your body belongs to god, and it is not yours. Putting Tar perminately in your lungs, I would concider, ruining them.

Also, if you are not catholic, what would be the difference in drowning yourself in TAR, or merely suffocating yourself to smoking?!

I really don't care about the answer of these questions since I am an athiest.. I just think it'll make an interresting conversation.

True, but you need food to live.. granted, you don't need mcdonalds everyday... but you don't NEED TAR at all... and I don't think McDonald's is quite as bad as Smoking... And diet really doesn't MARK your body.. unless you get blocked blood vessels... hmmm and I know what you're gonna say.. When you smoke a cigarette, it isn't guaranteed that you'll die from it, even though other people have died from it.

You know people die in car crashes every day, right? But does that stop you from getting in a car? If you die in a car crash, knowing that other people have died in car crashes, are you commiting suicide?

Cars serve a purpose for convince, not absolutely necessary, but smoking serves NO purpose whatsoever, convince or otherwise.

yes, but those are accidents... the only way it would be the same is if riding in a car would slowly kill you.. we arn't talking about usingsome risky product.. we're talking about an instrument of self destruction... it's like when someone OD's on drugs.. that is suicide.... and if you don't agree.. then just think about all those people that commit suicide by ODing on sleeping pills.... sleeping pills are drugs.. so why should illegal drugs be any different... it's all the same thing.

Key word there is intentionally. The intent of smoking is enjoyment, not to kill yourself.

In some cases, yes. In most, no. Pulling a gun on a cop is almost completely unrelated to smoking. Most of the time is someone pulls a gun on a cop, its because they really think they can get away, in which case they are more crazy than anything.


Everyone is trying to compare smoking something you know is hurting you to things that you aren’t sure will hurt you. Car accidents are exactly what they say they are, accidents. No body gets into a car accident on purpose, unless they are suicidal, or crazy. The difference is that you know what happens when you smoke, and yet you continue for no reason other than to feed your addiction. When you drive a car, you want to get somewhere, and if somewhere along the line you hit another car, you aren’t suicidal. Now, I am also not sure if the word suicidal is the best

People get lung cancer on purpose?

You don't need to use a car. You could walk. You choose to drive because it gets you there better than anything else. People who smoke do so because it calms them better than anything else.

I know the comparison isn't perfect. Bare with me. Yes, there is a better chance of dying from smoking, but it's not like you expect to die from the very first puff. A smoker being told he/she has cancer may very well still be as suprise as you or I would be if a car was coming at us.

My train of thought? I dont get it.. people do die from lung cancer not smoking cigs. My grandma smoked for many many years, she stop a couple years back. She never got lung cancer and smoking cigs certainly didn't kill her.

I'm soooo glad I'm not Christian. That's ridiculous.
