The Pope takes a sip of tea! Extra Extra! Read all about it!!!

I'm sorry, but even if The Pope is...well The Pope, why is it everytime I refresh USA Today it's something new about him? Yesterday it was 'Pope told not to speak' then 'Pope breathing on his own' then 'Pope back in hospital', 'Pope out of hospital', 'Oh wait, nevermind, he's still in the hospital!, and 'Pope to attend Sunday Prayers'!

The Pope is in his mid 80's! He is going to have health problems like any other person! He has parkinsons! He was shot. I mean, all these health problems etc... The guy is old and he is sick. It sucks yeah, but I don't need to be updated everytime this man blinks. I'm not bashing the pope or anyones religion, I'm just saying why is his live turning into The Truman Show 2?!

I think we should take a poll and see how many people actually give a damn, and then place a 0.01 gram weight on Yoshi's chest for every person who doesn't. I'll be glad to see him go.

Stop whining already. If you don't like the coverage the media is giving to one of the most important figures in the world that's your problem. Deal with it.

How would you balance such small weights on a persons chest?

That was funny.
My friend tryed to prank call lindsay lohan, off of something we saw on the CAD forums, and we still got her answering machine.
:(

But yeah, if you dont want to see news about a very important person to about a billion people, then turn of the tv.
As simple as that.

He was shot by Mehmet Alì Agca in 1981. Then the pope even visited the criminal in jail afterwards. Now, the pope rides in that "pope-mobile."

I'm sure if that made sense, I would be stung, very very deeply by that horrendously insulting comment.

Or I'd brush it off because you're much worse than I am any day of the week.

They were talking about the Pope the other day too.
"What's the Pope blessing today!?"

Sprok and Yoshi are right, despite your opinions on the matter. Just because you don't care doesn't mean a lot of other people don't.

Yes. It's getting irritating. "OMQ BREAKING NEWZ!!! THE POPE MIGHT GO INTO SURGERY IN A FEW HOURS!! OMQ!!!"
I mean who the heck cares? He's just the stupid pope.

HE IS THE POPE. THE POPE, PEOPLE, THE POPE.

C'mon, it's not that hard to understand. It really isn't. He is a hugely important public figure and just because a couple of you keeping saying 'Huh? What? I don't get it!" isn't going to change the fact that he is a hugely important public figure.

Just becasue you don't want to/are unable to understand doesn't make it any less important to these so called "stupid people".

I for one do care about the Pope. I care what's going to happen should the Pope die. He may be stupid to you but he's important to me, my grandmother, Sister Paulea (sister at my grandma's church), and a helluva lot of other Catholics.
Code to the left of him, code to the right of him, code in front of him compil'd and thundered. Programm'd at with shot and $SHELL. Boldly he typed and well. Into the jaws of C. Into the mouth of PERL. Debug'd the 0x258.

I never understood the big hubbub about important peoples' deaths. Like when Kennedy was assassinated. Who caares? Is it just me? The second they report the hobo living on the street's death is the second I'll care about the Pope's death.

I would be very surprised to find that many people care about The Pope. Just because Avenger says it, doesn't make it true either.

I doubt more than 1/1000 actually care what The Pope has to say.
2005-02-26, 12:49 PM #31
the pope is the man.

Well, there already was a Jarre 'Concert for the Pope' at Lyon in 1986, so everything else is irrelevant to me.

2005-02-26, 12:57 PM #35
But not everyone's influence and impact on the world is the same. When JFK was assassinated, he was the president and elected leader of the US. He was voted by the millions of people to be in charge of the country, a more demanding role and higher figure in society than a hobo...

I'm willing to bet most people only attend the funerals of people they care about. How many hobos' funerals have you gone to, Freelancer? It is the same kind of idea.

It's simply natural for people to be concerned with the well-being of those they care about. A lot of people care about the pope, and thus are concerned with his well-being.
