I saw it last night, and I really liked it.

I drove up with 4 of my friends. I had my towel with me, and I went to go pick up friend #1.

She had a towel with her.

Picked up friend's #2 and #3. They both had towels.

Friend #4 had a towel, and a bathrobe.

It was grand times.

I too, am completely in love with the opening and the reprise. It was by far the greatest opening song of any movie of all time.
I thought Ford did a pretty bang up job, as did most other people.

I thought Zaphod's best part was when he was dancing around in between laser shots .

Compared to the books, obviously it was nothing like them. But as a movie, I thought it was pretty swell.

Agreed, does anyone know whether those were part of Adams' original screenplay?

IIRC, the idea slappers, Humma Kuvala, and the POV gun were all Adams' original ideas.

Really? Because I thought the idea slappers were kinda stupid... huh... I take that back... PART of it was kinda stupid, the other part was pretty good.

Oh man, I just saw it. That movie is bloody brilliant. God, Douglas Adams deserves a special medal, dead or not.

My favorite parts were.... I have none. They were all so freakin' cool! :D

Hey Yoshi. Here's the good news. With a little work you might not be such an idiot.

Me saying "I hear it's not good, so I'm sort of afraid to see it." has nothing to do with the fact that some popular movies suck.

Also, I love how you continue to disregard anything I have ever said I liked, because, god knows, that never happens.

I loved it! I saw it opening night and I can't stop recommending it to people!!! I still didn't really understand the signifigance of the towels, though.

Having seen this movie over the weekend, I can say that I was extremely impressed. They captured the feel and comedy from the original radio shows, whilst keeping the tradition of inconsitancy between versions.

I still think the original radio series is the best, though.

I didn't think it was funny. It looked like they took all the funny dialog and left it out in favor of mindless stupidity. Granted it had some funny parts, but allot of it was just too stupid. And they totally ruined Zaphod... It wouldn't have taken much effort to make that a whole lot funnier.

Just so you know.. Adams wrote the screenplay. There were supersmall minor changes made by the producer/editor/director or someone, but most of this movie is his own work. What changes were made were taken from his personal thoughts/notes/etc on the books and radio show.

Oh, and the towel thing has a much greater significance in the books.

Just because he wrote the screenplay doesn't mean it's got to automatically be good.

I'm not saying I agree with Obi, I'm just saying I see where he's coming from. Michael Crichton wrote the screenplay for The Lost World, and he also wrote the book. The book is great, and the movie is lame. Go figure.

Yeah, but you see most people complain about the fact that Disney or someone else made the screenplay, or most of it. Untrue. If you still hate the movie regardless of Douglas Adams making it, then fine. But some people refused to give it a chance (see: 95% of my friends) once they thought Adams didn't write the screenplay.

I saw it last night and thought it was pretty lame. I loved the books and was quite disappointed.

I can honestly say that the community theatre production I saw in the back room of some bar was better, funnier, and more entertaining. I will admit that the movie had better special effects, though.
