OR

Go for an '80s BMW (Bavarian hippie chick optional). Nothing too fancy.

Lotus Elise would be cheap enough, but wouldnt leave enough for the height-reduction surgery required for me to fit into the thing.

So probably... That Skyline posted above. Or a Mini Cooper S.

Boxter's are very cheap. You'd have a ton of money left.

I'd import a Skyline and get it up to about 500 hp and get some suspension mods. I'd be happy.

If I had $100,000 I'd use part of it to take various courses on car construction and mechanics. Then I'd buy the biggest, beefiest off the shelf engine, set it up with a turbocharger. The body would be a one or two-seater with tires about 1.5x as wide as the typical car's, like Nascar tires only with treads so I don't hydroplane into a solid object and/or predestrian.

That's my ideal car.

Well, that or the Moeller aircar, but - as mentioned - $100,000 isn't enough to buy that.

IMO, an Elise it would be crazy to own an Elise for anything other than a second car. No space, extremely uncomfortable (hard racing buckets, the passenger seat is 2/3 the size of the driver's), and redefines the word 'cacophony'. Sure, it does thew 0-60 sprint in 4.2 and pulls 1.04g on the skidpad, but practicality wise, it's sunk.

Personally, I would have to go for a '87 Buick Grand National GNX (around $45,000 excellant condition). 3.8 liter V6, single turbo 330 (rumored, official power outputs were supressed so as not to exceed GM's darling, the Corvette) hp, 0-60 of about 4.5. Modern-classic muscle car. And, old car means low insurance. :)

Nobody said it would be your ONLY car :)

I'd have a hard time turning down an Exige, but I think driving my 500hp Skyline Z-Tune would make me feel better.
