Answer me this:

Why did Obi-Wan say "That boy is our last hope." in ESB, and Yoda said "No. There is another." Obi-Wan obviously knew about Leia.
I can't think of anything to put here right now.

perhaps Obi-Wan knew about Leia, but didn't think she was still alive, ie Alderran going 'splode, he didn't know that Leia was Leia

BTW, to the whole first post in this thread:

Between the two movies, the characters are 19 years apart, but the actors are 29 years apart.

Leia was alone off on Alderan. Luke was on Tatooine with Obi Wan nearby. Maybe tahts wy :p

Actually, Obi wan goes off to disable the tractor beam while Luke, Han and Chewie rescue Leia. Obi Wan does not know leia is on the death star.

He does see the holographic message on tatooine though.

I imagine it was more along the lines of Obi-Wan thinking that Luke had all that training, and was going to dash it all. Leia maybe wasn't nearly as strong in the Force, and she probably could not challenge Vader or the Emperor.

Yeah but she is the twin of Luke, thus she most likely has the same midichlorians as Luke. Can twins have different blood types though?

Maybe it was just a clash of beliefs. Obi-Wan saw Luke grow up on Tatooine, raised as a hard working type, while Leia grew up as a politician. And we know how Obi-Wan felt about politicians.
