I noticed that there are a lot of Stargate fans out there, so I figured why not make a thread for all of us to talk about Stargate and Stargate mods. Does anyone want to start or is this a stupid idea that should immediately be removed.

Really looking forward to the next seasons of both. SG-A's cliff hangar was really great and SG-1 is moving in an interesting direction. While I really really liked RDA being on SG-1, I'm still looking forward to the new team and such.

I thought it was going to be really hard to catch up with the series, but fortunately with all the Stargate marathons sci-fi has and my dish network DVR, it wasn't hard. :D

Now if only there were decently priced replicas. Even the P90 is hard to get since that version of it in Airsoft has been out of production.

I never watch them on TV, I just wait for the DVD sets to come out and have my own little marathon.
<Lyme> I got Fight Club for 6.98 at walmart.

Cool, how are they? I've been thinking about investing in them since there are some episodes sci-fi has skipped.

I love stargate and I defintly can't wait for the new season... my provider does not being showing the new season until around november... but I can still look forward to it!

I also can't wait for Ruthys mod, his screenshots look oh so sexy and defintly do the show justice.

Teal'c with hair ROCKS. I love Teal'c's development in the last two-three seasons. He's rapidly becoming my favorite character.

And the DVD boxes rock. I buy them for like $40 Canadian apiece from some obscure DVD online shop in Canada. My only gripe is that they're these big bulky anime "stfu, people have really huge bookselves!" type boxes with five or six hard DVD cases, instead of neat fold-out boxes like Buffy or Babylon 5 has.

i liked the movie
2005-07-05, 11:14 AM #11
The movie was good, the show is really good, the other show is good so far. Only thing I don't like is how different the movie gets from the show, but as long as we tell ourselves it never happened like that, its ok... . Stargate really needs a video game, and the one that're comming out better be worth the zillion other mods and games that were killed by it and the evil empire that owns stargate

Well, Ra may have been a snake-head. Remember when Daniel found the heiroglyphs he talked about an alien possessing the body of a boy, that could have been the snake, ra, taking a host.

Ra looks more like an Asgard than a Goa'uld then.

I figure Ra could've just been some different goa'uld and that's why he was so "mightier" compared to the others. They could always save it to cover in the show later, considering theres alot of things they haven't covered (much) in the show. Ie: The Furlings.

Granted, Ra was alone in that scene, but they could always reference it in some Ra temple. *shrug*

I figure if they wanted to do something like that, it could be one of the first Goa'uld that started the rest of the species onto taking over people and such.

Series 7-8 rocked from the episodes Ive seen...

I saw the first 2 eps, and it...is... BRILLIANT.
Cant wait to see more.

Yeh basically Stargate rules.

ps. Amanda Tapping and Claudia Black would GET it. ... HARD.

The movie was good.

SG1 was good for a while, but then you realize that every episode/arc has the same basic storyline and it gets really annoying, especially when others in your household insist on watching it everyday.

Atlantis has worse acting than Episode III.

Ya know, I'm glad so many people have come to talk. I was worried people would hate me and through me out of Massassi, but this is nice. It's especialy nice to know that there are so many Stargate fans here at Massassi. Oh, trivia: Name all the members of the original team sent to Abydos. And would the winner please post a new trivia question.

I'm sure the Stargate show is good and all, but I'm just spoiled by movie acting. I can't watch TV shows anymore. They just suck compared to movies in terms or everything. Lower budget, worse special effects, worse acting in most cases. I'm just a movie slut 4 live yo!

My feeling exactly. I'm looking forward to Ben Browder and Beau Bridges joining the cast.

Ok, think about this. Ra from the movie looks nothing like any other Goa'uld, right? So what if he is part Ancient and (or) part Accended? Does that sound reasonable?

Lower budget, yes, worse special effects, maybe, worse acting? Not in Stargate, Farscape, and Firefly. Seriously, those three shows have some of the best acting out of any series' I know, and better than most movies.

Granted, special effects aren't on-par with movie quality. Guess that means they have to have a plot.

Apparently not, because they've been using the same plot structure for two seasons.

Stargate? There's a difference between plot structure, and plot, also.

If the plots didn't tie together then it would be pretty boring and would have no reason to make you die to see EVERY episode.
With a plot structure, each episode builds to the plot until the season finalie where everything either resolves (SG-1) or comes to a cliffhanger that leaves you wanting more (Atlantis)
I think that the writers have done a wonderful job, and the only bad thing I can think of is that they don't revisit old plots enough (minus Hathor coming back over and over and over...). I would love to see the Aschen come to earth in ships, upset over the bad addresses they were given.

That would be cool, but you have to figure they could be keeping alot of stuff under wraps for future plots and possibly the series finale. Such as they really haven't done much with the Furlings..aside from O'Neill's theory that they're "furry." :p

I was highly surprised when they covered the Aschen the second time. I figured the episode that had them in that alternate future was just a random episode that wouldn't have much of an impact.

So, not everything needs to be covered right away. I think this is something that shows like Star Trek need to learn...

I read somewhere that a third Aschen episode was written, but never produced. It had something to do with the Aschen meeting the Asgard with their alliance with Earth and they wanted them to put Earth on Trial for a little black hole incident(from the addresses) or something like that.

the achen are one of the reason stargate is awesome... they stick to their continuity they've built up and they re-visit many plots they left open.

sure we don't know who the furlings are, and we don't know what happened to the Tollan (there must have been survivors from the assautl on their homeworld...)

but the show defintly sticks to a continuity that has carried on from the movie (well... most of the movie) and into the 9th season... but since the 9th season is coming around, there might just be some plot holes filled in... and who knows, there might even be a 10th season.

The TV show went a completely different direction than the movies. Those are some things they just kind of washed over.

I doubt it, because for that to occur the host would have had to been an Ancient (which is impossible because the host was a human slave from Earth) or would have had to have help ascending, which is unlikely, because even an outcast like Oma probably wouldn't risk having another Anubis running around.
2005-07-06, 7:35 PM #39
Movie, and show. Two completely different things, with their similiarities. Some things work, some things don't. End of discussion :)

And I didn't really like the movie, but I am in LOVE with the series. I own all seven seasons on DVD.

Well, the ancients researched ascension, what's to stop Ra. He was, supposedly, the worst gou'uld of all...
