Well, if he was ascended, then he really didn't die in the movie. And I kind of doubt he would just sit around watching Apophis/the System Lords/Anubis take control of his armies and territory. And really, the only thing that indicates that Ra is "different" is the few seconds before he blows up, and that really just seems to be a small discrepency between the movie and the series.

Ya, I know. I'm just arguing for the sake of arguing. I completely agree that he's dead, but it's still one of those, what ifs...

Isn't Anubis worse than Ra?

They had better start breaking out some badass Earth weapons this season. I want Abrams rolling through the Stargate, god dammit.

Dunno about an Abrams, but you would think by now they would have some sort of car for SG teams or something. Like a jeep maybe. So much for Jaffa troops being right behind them. :p

well, the Jaffa are pretty much free now... in the last season Ba'al was relying on the Kull warriors he managed to capture and re-program, the jaffa warriors had all basicly rebelled and lef their gods once Dakara, the Holy Planet was taken.

now that anubis is being taken care of by oma and Ba'al has no army to command... the Jaffa are free.

I don't know how season 9 will play out.

Lesse after Season 8...

Anubis: All tied up with Oma
Replicators: dead (at least in this galaxy)
Jaffa Rebellion: even stronger
The System Lords: Reduced to what...Ba'al?
Gen. Jack O'Neill: Sits behind a desk now instead of blowing up Goa'uld and making (bad) puns.

I hope they're creative, the writers.

Atlantis however, is catching on. I eagerly await season two.

anubis is indeed tied up with oma.
the replicaters are basicly defeated, the asgard can now mop up the mess in the Ida galaxy with the ancient disruptor.
The jaffa rebellion is indeed strong and is even sending out assasin teams to kill off remaining goa'ulds.
Ba'al is currently the last known system lord alive and according to some websites is actually hidding on earth in season 9.
O'neill has been promoted to head of homeworld security and has taken over General Hamonds old spot once more (where's hammond? Last I saw him he was captain of the Prometheus...)

A new villian called the Ori (or-eye) will be coming into play, these ori are aparently evil acended beings who are very religious and demand tha earth worship them... we of course won't.

a plauge will also be unleashed by the ori on earth have a major impact on the population, maybe even a new strain of the plauge that nearly wiped out the ancients.

anubis will make a return eventually, this time training special kull warrors how to accend so that they he can fight the ancients on their own turf.

Hmm...more ascended beings. I imagine this means we'll be seeing more Ancient technology. That's one of the main reasons I like Atlantis, they have some really cool stuff.

Though I'd imagine if the Ori were totally ascended like Ancients, there'd be no battle at all. Probably something more like Anubis, if that.

I'd also like to see the Tolan come back. They had phase shifting technology, dammit. Not even the Asgard or Ancients have that as far as we know. Their technology is also apparently very incompatible with everything else. I read that it has like, no wires or something.

Their focusing an Arthurian legend for this season as well, playing along the lines that Merlin was an Ancient. The Orii are in a new galaxy and we stumble on them while exploring, thus making a new enemy. There will also be some focus on the Free Jaffa Nation. Louis Gossett Jr. is going to be in a fair number of episodes as a Jaffa to rival Teal'c and Bratac for what the Jaffa should do.

Or the Nox at least, they've gotta start coming up again. I know they're all anti-violence and whatnot, but it's getting to a point where they need to get into things. You gotta assume they know something about the Tolan as they were pretty chummy with each other.

That kinda makes me think though, if the Tolan were pretty much equal to the Nox and/or the other "great races of the galaxy", how come they weren't one of them? Maybe the writers are keeping a lid on Tolan stories for that sort of reason.

Plus it would be nice to know why we haven't heard of the Asguard, Nox and possibly Furlings keeping contact. If they were buddy-buddy when the ancients were around, why no apparent interaction now?

The big thing you have to remember though, is that the Ori are NOT ancients (or atleast don't have the moral code that our ancients have). The Ori believe themselves to be gods and don't have a non-interference policy. Our ancients won't interfere with the universe, but the Ori will.

In other news, Baal is hiding on earth (Seattle if I remember correctly), Anubis made a clone (the ascending warriors...), earth is hit with a plague, and more possibly involving the Prometheus, and more possibly involving temporarily bringing back a dearly departed character... (could it be Janet? I don't know...)

So when did O'Neill become general? Last I saw, Hammond was retiering and had taken over Prometheus and O'Neil was frozen in Antartica. And did Carter become colonel the same time O'Neill gained stars?

Hammond left at the end of season seven. He was promoted to head "Homeworld Security." Dr. Elizabeth Weir was assigned to run Stargate Command for the time being. Enter season eight. O'Neill is near death, the knowledge of the Ancients is killing him. He's in a stasis tube in an Ancient outpost at Antarctica. The season opener deals with some mess involving the replicators. Nearly wipes out the Asgaard. Yadda yadda. At the end, Dr. Weir is sent down to Antarctica to investigate the Ancient outpost (who is then later sent off to the Pegasus galaxy). O'Neill gets promoted to brigadier general (one star) and runs SGC. Carter gets a pair of silver oak leaves (lt. col.)

yeah, next season O'neill replaces hammond as head of homeworld security and a new general takes over the SGC, while the guy from farscape takes over command of SG-1.

From what I've heard the new season starts a few months in the future and SG-1 has been disbanded and re-organized, teal'c and daniel are on diffrent teams or retired, Sam is commanding a diffren team or something elsewhere and jack is in washington.

Browders character re-unites SG-1 under his command (except carter for the first 5 episodes, they bring the Vala chick from the episode where her and danny are alone on the prommy)

this new team uncovers the Ori after Vala and daniel are locked together in some sort of shared coma, in this coma they meet an Ori Prior (a preist of the Ori) who makes the Ori aware of this new galaxy that is unclean... the Ori preist then basiucly wage holy war on the MW galaxy.

I can't belive SG-1 is changing. I knew O'Neill, Carter, Jackson, and Teal'c couldn't keep doing the stargate thing(well, maby Teal'c...) but it's a bit of a shock. What are we going to do when SG-1 is finaly over? I know there is SGA, but still...

Lucky twits. I only have local channals, and the only channel that has Stargate only shows it once a week, and only reruns. I didn't know that O'Neill was a general, Carter was a Lt. Colonal, or that Teal'c was leading the rebel Jaffa until the Firday on the first week of summer break when I was up at my grandparent's house. Do youknow what a pain it is to have to fight old people in order to watch the SciFi channel?! And what is Daniel up to, anyway? The episode I saw was where he accended again.

he's died more then twice.

1. Movie, killed by staff blast I beleive
2. Season 1 - killed by apophis and his jaffa, revived by the Nox
3. Hit with a fatal staff blast, near death, revived by sarcoughagus
4. Radiation poisoning in season 5-6, accended
5. Killed by replicarter, accended again.

I'm most likely missing some... but he's died the most out of the four.

Know it was only the first episode, but it was really dissapointing. They could have put more into the first episode IMO.

Seemed like they could've done more, and done without the TBC (but they weren't hanging over from last season, so I guess SG-1 can be excused). I'm watching the eps taped as I never know when I'll get home from work.

I think the premiere went pretty well for both, I didn't mind them not putting much action into SG1 since Atlantis was pretty much non-stop.

Both the new colonel and general though, they're kind of getting on my nerves. I think they tried to make each character a little too humurous, even if it was in their own way. Hopefully that'll be toned down later on. All in all though, I liked both. :D
