Again, as long as you work as a team, countering a shielder isn't hard. You just need one dude to draw him out and act as a distraction, while a second dude sneakes behind and takes him out.

The sneakiest and best organised team wins, instead of the one with the most skilled individuals.

1) Yeah, but you usually don't have just one shielder, and in leagues especially people would not just use one shielder or if they did they'd protect him really really well.

2) That sneakiest teams bit is crap. Watch a Team3D video, and tell me a sneakier team could take them on. CS and CS:S are all about skills, not how sneaky you are. Connection Problem will back me up here.

Grenades beat shields.

If you can't get your team to buy grenades... your team sucks. Go to a different server.

And it's exactly for that reason that they'd oppose any push towards making CS actually a team game.

It IS a team game, just not in pubs. You obviously have no scrims/league experience Mort.

Scrims are a little bit different from regular games.

Regular CS Game pubs - Requires skill, since nobody really pays attention to the objectives and rarely operates as a team. However, when they do, they CAN be just as deadly.

Scrims/Matches - Require both skill AND working as a team. You can have a team of say 5 really skilled guys, against anotehr team of 5 so-so skilled guys with one exceptionally good player, and that one player can take out your whole team.

It's like comparing House league and professional.

You can shoot shielded bots in the feet for easy bot kills. Same with people, but people can duck and protect their feet that way (I think... it still may be possible to hit them in the knees or something).

I think Mort is trying to say that it should be a teamwork-orientated game all around. Limiting it to competitive gaming means that 10% or less of the players even care about a very important element of the experience.

And remember, not all pubs are alike.

After having played for nearly 3 years (from 1.5-Source) I can tell you 90% of pubs are alike. Also, that may be, but CS is what it is, and it won't change just because Mort thinks it should (thank god).

The game isn't "limiting" pubs from being a team game. It's the exact same game. The only difference is the people playing it.

It's just that the average pub player only cares about his own kills:deaths ratio.
