I'm pretty sure he would if it didn't look like you realized you were being arrogant and rude and started to back pedal and make half-baked excuses. It's like when a politician makes a stupid remark and he gets lots of media backlash. But instead of owning up and admitting he made a mistake, he starts to make up a bunch of crap to try and justify the statement(ie Durban and Cheney). And if you are going to make up an excuse, come up with one better than "Well, it's my humor, deal with it." No only does that piss people off even more, but we can see right through it as well.
