So I'm out of cigarettes

I think people have a right to smoke, and people have a right to not be around smoke. There's nothing wrong with designated areas for smokers, and there's nothing wrong with outright banning smoking in private/public areas.

Also, Freelancer, grow up.
my point in all of these stupid smoking threads is, why do people focus on the smoking when they'll be killed by a myriad of other things?
smoking is one of two subjects that will get me to fly off the handle every time.
Inconvenience. People are bothered by the smell of tobacco smoke and don't want to deal with it. I certainly don't. I've been forced to relocate in classrooms because some person walked in fresh from smoking. I wish my university would designate (more clearly) smoking areas.

And why don't they just ban those damned dotheads from public areas, too? I'm trying to get some work done, and they're stinking the place up with curry.

Correct if wrong, but is this a "STFU and deal with it" type response?

It seems that way.

You know it really pisses me off when someone sits next to me and smells like a bag of ****. You don't hear me barking for government mandates for daily application of deoderant do you?

I think you should. :p But then realize that everyone around that person thinks him a dirty disgusting person. Thats how non-smokers feel when a fresh-smoke smelling smoker stands next to them.

For some reason though, it seems some people are worste than others on it. Smell seems to cling more to some people than others. I had an ex that smoked and all she had to do was brush her teeth or eat gum and voila! No more smell.
oh emon. you know what i'm getting at. the toxic witches brew of household chemicals that come with no warnings that most north americans breathe in everyday cause cancer. end of story. there's a term for it as it was discovered in the 50's and 60's to be harming house wives with thier heads stuck in ovens and bathrooms all day using harsh chemicals to clean.
Exactly what the hell are you talking about? Yes, household chemicals are hazardous, that's why the come with WARNINGS. Yes, they DO, if you read the containers, they DO. Use them in well ventilated areas ONLY and you avoid almost all of the associated health risks. And I would like some real scientific data that says my bathroom cleaner causes cancer, short of inhaling or swallowing it, which would probably just kill you outright. Where are the studies that say cleaning my bathroom once per week with chemicals will shorten my life span?
what do you get when you mix perfume with pesticide, oven cleaner, bathroom pretty smell stuff, fabric protection...? whatever the **** it is, it doesn't take a doctor to know it's not good for you and it will have long term health risks.
!!?? WHAT?? Who the hell mixes pesticide, perfume, oven cleaner, air deorderizer and fabric protection chemicals?? If you're doing that, you deserve to die from cancer and remove yourself from the gene pool.

Your argument of "it doesn't take a doctor to know it's not good for you" is total rubbish. It kind of DOES take a doctor, or at least someone who has done extensive testing on the subject and has published their findings in a peer-reviewed scientific journal (read: a reliable source).

Seriously, Evad, where are you getting this stuff from? What is even your point? That household chemicals, perfumes and personal products will have more adverse affects on your life than cigarette smoke? I want some solid proof of that, not more Evadlogic.

Oh, and even if there are more important health hazards in everyday life, it doesn't give smokers the right to further contaminate others' environments.

Er. Isn't vehicle smoke just as bad, if not worse? Oh, and I'm NOT out of cigarettes. Muahaha.

Koobie, people don't make threads whining about how they won't have any vehicle smoke to inhale until Tuesday. :p
