Kirby. Knock it off. Normally, you bring up good points and I respect you for that, but here you are just going too far. Who are you to tell Sarn what his Dad and faith are when you've NEVER met him? You're being a real SOB, so please, stop it.

i suppose he is telling them what his overall opinion is on stuff like exorcism... thing is, he isnt dressing it up nice and making it easy to take, compare a normal statement to pornography with pixellation, compare kirbs statement to a huge set of female genitals that look like two galactic black holes.

I'm not suggesting he's got some kind of alter-ego or secret identity. I mentioned the piano tuning to show that he's not making his money off the church.
[Also, this wasn't show or a big presentation. Just 4 or 5 people in a room]

And for the record, I watched this happen. And it was more than the roaring. I just mentioned that cause it was pretty weird.

And seriously, Kirbs, you know me. You know I'm not an idiot. My dad's not either. He graduated from University of Washington with a 4.0 in business before he was called to the ministry. He then went to a theological seminary in Boston where he also graduated with a 4.0.

I don't blame you though for thinking I'm crazy. Like I said earlier I don't expect you to believe it.

(Oh, and btw, I checked out the link about the Million Dollar Challenge, and to be honest, no one's ever going to win that, because spirituality is not scientific. You can't do the same thing and get the same result every time. Plus, people that don't want to believe it aren't going to, no matter how much "proof" you give them.)
If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice.

I'm being a SOB? There's a gigantic difference between faith, and blatent disillusions.

Oh, and if getting a 4.0 at a university is enough education to make obviously silly claims, then I can't wait until I graduate.

Oh, and I am an *******, but I couldn't help it:

How can you call it "blatant disallusions"? What qualifications do you have to make that claim? Have you done *any research at all on exorcisms? Or have you just watched The Exorcist, and Constantine, and so now you think you're an expert?

Kirby- you're taking it a bit too far, they can believe whatever they want to, if you're going to protest, make it intelligently, not blatant insults.

Everyone else- he has as much a right to state his opinion as you all do, and you must admit it is quite ridiculous.

I've done quite a bit of reading, actually. Not recently, but everything I have read in the past has been easily explainable. If you've never seen a 4th grader flip out and act like a demon, particularly a female, then you haven't seen many 4th grade girls. And tell me, do you know what vocal chords are capable of? You know a human being can't sound like what you claim? I wasn't there, but I really don't need to be in order to determine that there's no where NEAR enough proof, and far too much fantasy for me to consider either you or your father sane.

It's called common courtesy. You said:

Quote:
Haha, you're dads bat-****ing-looney. He passed some on to you, too, it seems.

The courteous thing to say would have been:

Quote:
Wow. I don't believe that for a second. And you actually believe that?

See the difference? You convey your opinion without calling someone "bat-****ing-looney."

Courtesy. Learn it, half-pint.

Where did I say one has to lie to be courteous? Criminey, I'm sick of this "I'll say what I want, and to Hell with the consequences!" attitude. It's ridiculous.

So when you're Math teacher tells you that you made an F on your exam, do you turn around and say "Well screw you piece of ****"? Or how about when your mom asks you to put away the laundry - "Shut the **** up *****, I'll do it when I want?"

Oh yeah, we're all for self-expression, just forget about accountability, who ever heard about being couteous.

We're together for a reason, I think.

Wolfy, have you EVER known me to apply courtesy? Ever? I don't say things with the intention to harm, ever, but I never make statements "nicer" if they're true and an opinion. If it helps: I didn't mean any offense, sarn, but you're crazy. Calling someone crazy can't be stated as a complimnet.

When did Wolfy ever say anything about "compliment"? Kirbs, I agree with you that sometimes "honesty is the best policy" and you certainly know that some things need to be said (like in the case of your speech to the LPA you were telling me about). However, have you ever heard of being diplomatic? You don't win friends this way. You can tell someone the truth in a pleasant way, it doesn't have to be ugly.

"compliment" was a liberal statement. How do you tell someone they're batty without offending them? You don't, so I just said it.

And "Are you kidding!? That isn't possible." isn't my opinion. My opinion is that anyone who can understand enough to make it past the age of 11, and still believe all of the stuff he's claimed, than you're crazy.

Going back to the possessed people, this is time to use skills learned in killing demonic monsters in FPS games. Just wait until your roommate goes crazy and then blast him away! And then make sure no hell portals open up. If they do, take the fight to hell.

Pretty simple.

As for exorcisms, I am not a believer in them. Too weird for me. Then again, I have never met anyone in person who is disturbingly immersed in religion for that matter.

Hehe, kirbs, I think even you realized you went too far. I noticed how you've edited your original post now. Let me just point out that if you felt the need to edit it, than there was DEFINATELY something wrong with it.

And in response to your original question:
Quote:
How do you tell someone they're batty without offending them? You don't, so I just said it.

Hehe, except you didn't say he was just "batty" - you insulted him and his dad by saying:
Quote:
"Haha, you're dads bat-****ing-looney. He passed some on to you, too, it seems."

To conclude, if you wouldn't say that to someone to their face, don't say it to them on the internet, just because it's a screen and not a face. They're still people, and they still have feelings.

Throwing "****ing" into the statement totally changes it? I didn't edit a thing, I just consider "batty" and "bat-****ing-looney" to be interchangable. I would, and probably HAVE said that to someone's face. It's not like I said it to challenge him, or be over the line, I use '****ing' because I'm amazed he can stand behind his statements.

But lets stop arguing about how I've offended you, and get back to the facts:

If you want to call a brain tumor, or simple chemical imbalances a "demon," and you want to call the beginning of our universe "God" then I'll completelly agree with you. You're just giving titles to things that we don't understand. However, if you think the enemy of a personified god has minions that possess children and that reading words from the bible are going to fix those problems, then you're a ****ing loon.

I said kid simply because you mentioned a father, apoligies. And I honestly didn't mean to offend, which I think you got. I just think it's insane to think that, and am amazed by such, so I used fowl and crude language when stating as much. NOT trying to attack you or anything.

The speaking in a deep unnatural voice was something I heard a girl did while she was possessed. Along with having some sort of strange stone. (I think she was into witchcraft-y stuff, but I don't remember.) Anyway, they knew that this stone, for whatever reason, was evil. But no matter what she did, she couldn't get rid of it or destroy it. So then she was in a church or something, and the pastor and a bunch of people prayed over her, and they tapped the stone with a hammer and it shattered into a bunch of pieces, as if it were exploding. I don't remember the details to that story, but it was something along those lines. The demon also spoke, and said it's name was "Dark Jaguar" or some strange thing and said other stuff, too.

Also, here's another one that I really like. My church was having a women's prayer meeting, and one woman said she saw a hooded person among the people praying. She said that the person was wearing black, and looked like he didn't belong. He then walked through the wall, and left the room.
The woman told the youth pastor what had happened, and he asked what time this had happened. When she said 3:00 he was suprised, because he remembered being completely full of rage for absolutely no reason and that when he had looked at the clock it was 3:00.

Just... ineteresting.

I've heard a lot of things from people that have witnessed demon possesion, or have been serious practicers of witchcraft.

Until I made this post.
