My roommate is also a kidnapper/"rescuer"

[LONG POST, but please do try to read all of it before replying]

Yeah the third post about my roommate. I am not sure if you guys have think I been making all of this, but rest assure I am not. However, I can't really blame you guys considering how insane all that is going on with him. It's a long read, but do please consider reading all of it before responding. Jezz so much drama in college even when I try to avoid it by staying in my dorm room all of the time aside from classes.

I shall begin with background information regarding my roommate and Carolyn. Carolyn Smith was the girl who purported by my roommate to be possessed. Apparently that seems to have been taken care of now. She is 15 years-old and has a trouble relationship with her family (has a mother and a stepfather and some brothers). She is also a wiccan, but more on that later. According to my roommate, she has also been "raped too many times for her to remember."
My roommate has an interesting relationship among 14 and 15 years-olds girls. He also has a Myspace.

My roommate has been telling me for some time about how he wishes to save Carolyn from her abusive parents. Last night, he had an interesting phone conversation with her using a speaker phone so I could clearly hear their conversation. I will assume that he used a speaker phone because he was either trying to make me sympathize her or to let his buddy hear on the phone conversation (though he left early). So during the admist of the phone conversation, I had an AIM chat with a friend and I basically typed up alot of what he said to her.

I did my best in organizing the quotes and conversation so that they will make sense because I was not able to type down everything that was said. So the following quotes are NOT verbatim. A few of them are, but a majority of them are 80% close to what he said. ** indicates incompletness as well as addition comments in brackets. I did not type up alot of what Carolyn said since she mostly repeated stuff along the lines of "It will be alright", "It's my fault", and "My parents are doing what is best for me". Do note that all of the information my roommate learn about Carolyn are from her.

Tuesday, January 18, 2006 around 11:00 PM

Roommate: "We're getting you out of that house, Carolyn."

Carolyn: "Everything is fine, I'm not going to die"

Roommate: "I know you're a strong young woman, but if they're planning on making you have no contact with us[him and his girlfriend]."

Roommate: "I have to get you out of there."

Roommate: "It's not your fault, Carolyn, they're ****ed up."

Roommate: "Having a man rape you just because you ran away."

Roommate: "Thus, they are miserable human beings who don't deserve to draw breath."

Roommate: "I'm getting you out of that house!"

Roommate: "The real world doesn't just rape you, Carolyn!"

Carolyn: "They're just trying to prepare me."

Roommate: "Life isn't that tough!"

[At this point he tries to act more calm by stop yelling at her.
He tells how he is sorry for yelling at her and that he would not
hit her when he arrives to rescue her from her parents.]

Roommate: "I would be looking into your eyes and showing you that I love you."

Roommate: "Stop blaming yourself for everything your parents did to you,"

Roommate: "They didn't put rattlesnakes in your backpack to help you become more organized. They did just because they could."

Roommate: "They didn't put tarantulas in your bed just because you wet your bed. They did it just because you could."

**Roommate: "What they doing....you know how much I love you, Carolyn."

Roommate: "...you need to know the truth and you need to know it...before they end up killing you."

Roommate: ""No Carolyn, they want to break your spirit so that you can become a servent to them."

Roommate: "And if you can't hear the hurt in my voice as I'm talking. It's killing me to be telling you this...
and I would love to be by your side telling you that they do love you."

[He goes on to say how they do not actually love her.]

Roommate: "Your whole family may very well be possessed."
[He mentions how her mother may have been the first to be manipulated by Satan
and then somehow the mother influenced the rest of the family against her.]

Roommate: "Beating you with a chain, having a man rape you, putting a rattlesnake in your backpack,
pouring tarantulas on your bed, no Carolyn" [in reference to Carolyn saying they're doing everything out of love]

Roommate: "No, they didn't even take you to the hospital when you had a huge gash on your leg resulting in blood loss."

Roommate: "Carolyn, your neighbor took you to the hospital and when you got home from the hospital
they [the parents] yelled at you for going to the hospital."

[Next, my roommate is talking about how her family is lazy in unload grocery bags. They apparently have her unload 20 grocery bags
by herself.]

Carolyn: "They were busy."

Roommate: "They were busy sitting on their ****ing asses watching a TV show."

Roommate: "And your father, he calls you off the computer to get you a napkin....a ****ing napkin."

**Roommate: "What type of food was on the plate."
[I forgot what point he was trying to make with this though I remember him refering to the
father having chicken on hisplate and something about it not being spilled easily or something.]

Roommate: "There's no logic in locking you in your room every night."

Carolyn: "But that's so I won't sneak out."
[Following this statement, my roommate mentions something about her parents going against her humanity by always trying to isolate her from social interaction.]

Roommate: "Were they protecting you when you got raped?"
[in reference to Carolyn saying that her parents are just trying to protect her.]

**Roommate: "They call you out of the house so that there would be no witnesses for the rape."
[I wasn't able to completely type up what he said, but I think I got down the important point of there being no witnesses of her rape.]

[My roommate tells Carolyn how she doesn't have to continue living this horrible life.]
Roommate: "You always have a choice!"

[At this point, two of my roommate's friends knock on the door named Tyler and Brandon. They shook hands and greeted me, and I did the same. I have no idea who Brandon is, but I can recall earlier in the phone conversation that Tyler is going to convert her into a Christian. My roommate mentions something about how he is one of the best converter or something along that line. My roommate leaves with the two of them along with his phone. 12:15 AM is when those two guys came in I think.]

Some time later at around 12:30 AM, my roommate returns to answer the dorm room's phone with Carolyn on it. After he hangs up and before he went back outside the room, he gave me a sort of early goodbye. He tells me that he has a month to get Carolyn away from her parents before they move presumably so that her roommate and his girlfriend will not be able to contact her. He went on to tell me that he has to get her out, or she will die. Additionally, he knows of the consequence that he will be put in jail for kidnapping. Seeming very serious about doing this, I asked him if his parents letting him do all of this and he answered back with something along the line of "I don't give a **** about them." Finally he gives me an early goodbye and then leaves the room. I have no idea when he returned to thehome as I went to sleep at 12:45 AM though did not fall asleep until around 1:30 AM.

My Thoughts
I am skeptical to a degree of what Carolyn says. I know this is bad generalizing, but she sounds like the typical goth kid who amplifies her "victim of society" and "being an outcast." She being a wiccan this early in life kind of signifies that she is a goth. In addition, do the parents seriously keep a box of tarantulas and a rattlesnake around? Having a child be raped by a rapist that the parents know who previously raped her as punishment for running away? All I am saying is that maybe she is just trying to get attention.
Then again I could be wrong and that maybe she does have abusive parents. Though whenever or not he should intervene in "rescuing her" is a question that's up for you Massassians to discuss.

If he really wanted to help her, he would contact police/social services. If parents were REALLY doing that to a 14 year old girl, there would be some serious charges against the parents, such as child abuse. No, it sounds like not only is the girl probalby making up some of it, but he's want to "help" her for his own selfish reasons.
Life is beautiful.

Depending on her location, social services might not be worth it. I've heard of a lot worse cases than that coming out of foster homes, and I've seen a lot worse firsthand. Trust me, almost my entire family was in a foster home at some point (me only for a week thank god) and it's...not a pleasant experience. Some of my family members got raped multiple times in foster homes. They're not the saving graces people think they are.

On the other hand, if her current home is as bad as is implicated by the post above, the chance of improvement outweigh the chances of winding up in a worse situation.

I think she's probably making it up for attention. My friends and I told similar (if not worse) stories at that age....(and we were "goth.") If it is all true, she probably wouldn't have said they're trying to help her. Sounds like her wanting pity.

But yeah...unless you enjoy the drama of your roommate, you may want to switch rooms.

Yah Wicca is crap but this biggest question in all of this is, Cloud have you talked to your roomate about all of your concerns, if so what was his response. If your just complaing to a bunch of screennames on a video game site that wont really help any one except maybe make you feel better.

BTW at the risk of ofending any one, Is your roomate Mormon by any chance?
because he sounds like some one in a "Christian" Cult not a real christian. (that would also help explain the 14-15 year old girl thing.)

sounds like the whole thing is a mess regardeless of how much is made up lies, because that itself is screwed up. If your roomamate really cared about her he would be getting help from outside, atleast asking good people for good advice (like if he is a Christian as you say he claims maybe his PASTOR?!) before he decides it would be best to kidnap a young girl.

Personally, I find the claim of her being wiccan to be complete bull. All this "wicca is crap" is ridiculous as well, I didn't know wicca in particular was being judged in this case. Mind you, I don't practice religion but I know many good people who do practice wicca. I can just imagine the uproar on here if people HAD to post in a thread that christianity, catholicism, etc. were crap as well.

I'd report your roommate to the police as mentally unbalanced and suspect of endangering and seducing a minor. While child services is pretty much crap, the police will most likely have a feild day. Granted, people like that deserve to be dealt with by a shotgun blast to the gut, it'd be too much work.

Unfortunately, psychos like him can't be banned from practicing religion because that would lose over half of the recruiters.

Wicca is a silly religion. It's a haplash of multiple pagan religions crammed into one modern theistic themed religion. There are several Paganistic [is that a word?] that have far more validity and realism, and abide by the laws of science... oh, and their CENTURIES old. Wicca itself is a joke, but don't let that fool you into thinking Pagans, themselves, are wacked out. Many of their, however simplistic, idealogies are rather sensical.

I know a girl that would tell HUGE lies just to get attention. I felt like every word out of her mouth was a lie to make her sound cooler, or to invoke sympathy, or something. The most annoying part was that everyone blindly followed her, and she actually turned my best friends against me for "always thinking she was a liar."
Then one day she made up a fictional character, tried to impersonate him in a chatroom with my best friend, and then made up a plethora of lies based on this non-existant character. So... I showed off the IP adress, and blew her lies out of the water... heh... I don't think she likes me too much, since she won't even look me in the eye.

But yeah, my point is, I think this girl 'sounds' like she's just trying to get your roomates love/attention. She's probably hugely exagerating some of this stuff, although it could be pretty bad for her. She needs to find help somewhere else, and your roomate needs to leave her alone.

You honestly have no ****ing clue how much I DO know. A majority of the knowledge out there for wicca is a misrepresentation of Paganism. Wicca, itself, is generally MADE UP, and only has general influence of Paganism.

This is my first time dissagreeing with you, Kirbs.

You may have your opinion. But I have mine.

Don't make fun of any religion. Doubt it, but don't make fun of it.

Wiccans may attract 15 year old girls who want attention, so they act possesed and raped, etc...but most of you are passing judgment without studying it.
2006-01-18, 7:04 PM #34
If you're talking about me, than you have no idea how much I HAVE studied it. A majority of religions have paganistic roots, but are far more original and unique, where Wiccan is a very loose religion with little to no strong roots in any one school of... anything. It's paganism modernized. This isn't my opinion, it's the way the religion has come about.

No, Wicca is crap.

Ecclectic religions, ARE CRAP.

The very idea of Wicca is CRAP.

It may have one or two good morals, but guess what? These all came from places that weren't wicca.

Atleast Christianity is centuries old, and not only about 50 years old.

Take your neo-paganism crap and cram it. Because that debate sucks, and you already do a good enough job of making yourself look like an idiot.

I don't even consider wicca a ****ing religion.

DID YOU KNOW THERE ARE SEVERAL DENOMINATIONS OF WICCA? Bet you didn't..

Guess what, 99% of the ones you hear about on the internet are made up bt 14 year old high priestesses. Self appointed mind you. Despite the original gardernarian tradition of having to be accepted into the community with a ceremony no one has ever seen or heard about.

Wicca is the biggest joke, EVER.

That's because your pathetic goal in life is to troll internet forums and spend every moment of your life trying to insult other people and things that other people believe in. Thus, I don't give a crap what you say, and I'm not going to spend my time trying to convince you otherwise.

Kirby, maybe you need to do A LOT MORE RESEARCH. Have you ever met a REAL wiccan? Have you ever taken the time to read a book that ISN'T by Silver Ravenwolf? I doubt it. Because if you have, you wouldn't be such a goofball when it comes to wicca. Second of all, it isn't cool to go around and insult another religion, just because you don't like it, or because you are too ignorant to understand it. Wicca has a very solid religion, with traditions, history, etc... It doesn't matter that wicca was publicised in 1954, it's been around in various forums way before then. Heck, if you want to get technical, it's only been a religion since it was legally recognised in 1985! ALL religions were started by someone, somewhere, with something in mind. It's a religion that MANY people actually believe in, and your being a complete wanker to those that do.
Think while it's still legal.
