I think JonC summed up a lot of what you need to know. It's easy for a company or party to claim copyright infringement for little things, but most likely won't bother with you, unless you're project becomes very well known around the web. If they do take notice, I would suspect the turning point would be right around when and if you started profiting off of your project (site donations can be considered revenue), as you'd be profitting off of someone elses work that yours was derived from. And I doubt there's any way you'd be able to pay royalties to WB. If you are outside the US as some have mentioned, it might get trickier, but any further answers are at [url]www.copyright.gov[/url] (its actually a very informative site).

Bottom line: If you wanna make a small Matrix Mod with your own engine, go for it, but be prepared to quit while you're ahead. If you wanna profit off of a matrix game, you're wasting your time.

To avoid the law just make a mod with the same principles but different stuff.

You could call it the Gaytrix and everyone discovers thier in plugged into a fake world via an anal plug and once they know this they can jump really high and dodge bullets. The nemises would be the Gaygents who are attempting to alter everyones sexuality.

Obviously you would be playing as The Won alongside a bald black man called Fishbourne. Both of you would be extreamly homophobic of course.

You would spend your missions smashing up gay people and fighting Gaygents. Fishbourne would get caught by the Gaygents and they attempt to alter his sexuality with anal stimulants but you would come to his rescue and find out you really are the Won.

In the games conclude with you heading to the Machine Gayframe and showing the head machine just how out of control Gaygent Smith has become.

You would then fight to bring and end to the war.

Realistically speaking, Rob is correct. All I ever saw of Gold's "work" was a folder tree and a "high poly" model of a morning star for a zelda mod (which i believe was said to be from morrowind). Then again, I wasn't able to find the thread, so i could be wrong.

Standard 'boy who cried wolf' syndrome. It's in human nature to be distrustful. How do you think we survivded all these ****ing years?

1.- What the hell are you talking about?
2.- WTF happened to all the other things I put in the Showcase forum? (buildings, characters, weapons, weird stuff)
3.- I have no screenshots of the matrix mod in the new engine, because I haven't started that yet. I started this topic to find out if I can legally be covered.
4.- I have screenshots of a game that I'm making with a game, but they are very simple, compared to what you will see in 1-2 weeks. Off topic: The game is 3D.
5.- The engine has only a terrain generator using heightmaps and brush tools. (Forgot to mention a tree generator as well, the rest are my models 100%)
6.- I will not mention the engine name or website until I post the first WIP screens (I have good reasons for this).
7.- The game engine is not complete, I only bought it because the praise will raise when completed, (in fact, the price raised to or will very soon to $65, and the new release isn't even out yet)
8.- The game I'm making is in no way, shape or form related to Star Wars, The Matrix, or Massassi.
9.- Resurrections is indefinatly suspended, cause: Funding pulled from under us and team broke up + school.
10.- The first screenshots will contain default character models, so they will be crappy.
11.- What did I forget?
