reading FGRs thread about the PAST gave me this wonderful idea to start a thread about the long ago days of massassi.

You know what im talking about. When people like HothRebel were making maps all the time. ThreeDee was doing his crazy.... Threedeeish stuff.

I haven't seen Naythn post in a long time either. Oh, and bug.

Last I heard from him, he was about to leave for a second co-op.

Going through the old news archives brings back a ton of memories too. I can't ****ing believe there was 10+ news posts per day, not to mention countless levels and mods. Sigh...

Anybody remember this news post? I was super-pissed.

I joined the forums in 99 when I was 13, and posted regularly until 2002 or 2003 (and on-and-off after that, but still spent time in the chat), so most of my formative years were spent in the time of JK's popularity. I think I started using the internet in 97 or 98, so most of my time on the internet I was a visitor to Massassi. I had a lot of good times playing JK, and met some really great people (it's kind of sad when I think about some that I've lost touch with). I wouldn't trade those years for anything.

A couple months after I got here, Brian left and handed the reins to blu and Keds.

Soo, I kinda missed out on the old old stuff. I got here around summer '01, looked thru the levels regularly and registered for the LC/EC system in Oct '01, but didn't join the forums until Feb '02.

So here are my slightly more recent memories:

-TJS in its glory days .. I wrote a complete levels/commenting system that was a clone of Massassi's for TJS .. it was like my first PHP project haha

I recall... and this was probably only a few years ago, certainly no more than three or four... a Post your Pic thread... And someone had very recently posted a horrific urban legend about some danish or dutch guy or something who's buddies, for his bachelor party, shaved off their pubes and glued them to his face without him knowing it. So, I posted the picture of him from the story as myself and someone yelled at me.

The best days were when people actually believed in and looked forward to the release of the SWTTC and TPMTC. God, there were some talented people around back then.

I have neither posted on here, nor even looked at Massassi for around 3 years now.

But it's a slooow day at work. I am surprised that the site and community contained herein are still going. Also doing a quick search for my name, somebody mentioned me a few months ago saying they hope I'm laying in a ditch somewhere.

I remember when murta had a masturbation reference in some of his posts on Chazoriac's thread (about a dream where met MadQuack, Kroko and Wolfy). Hell, the post got edited afterwards. Nowadays things aren't that tight. Maybe it's a shame...

Anyhow.

I guess I could post stuff about this matter but... meh. All I can say that even the atmosphere of JO coming out and people starting to edit it, arguing about JK dying - arguing if JO should even HAVE a sequel, was more incredible than the SF_Gold-flavored stuff and all debates that are actually previous debate threads by every aspect.

Also, if all these new JK editing things would have been released around JO's release (or earlier)... we might have a lot of more neat MotS SP classics.

Perhaps most importantly, I remember when ToaM 1 and 2 were released and they rocked (still do) and I was waiting for ToaM 3 and it got fried later on. And how people were nuts over SavageX leaving and RETURNING. And disappearing again. And how massassi2 was "coming" and people wondered if their post counts would be reset if they had to register on new forums.

Cazor announcing WTC memorial level for JK, keeping maevie's pictures on his locker (or whatever), TNM? Geez.

Well this turned out quite a ramble.

Amen to that. I remember talking to Earl on the SWTTC (I worked TPMTC). He showed me the Hoth level. It was incredible... Yet never got released. I might still have that somewhere, but who knows. But man, from what I was shown of the SWTTC and what we did with TPMTC - was some good stuff.

Man, even I don't remember that. I do remember going off on one, as I knew I was on thin ice for profanity or something and figured I'd might as well go out with a flourish.

I think I had maevie on MSN Messenger for years, but only ever spoke to her once or twice. Lingering on contact lists is saaad.
