What do you look for in a partner? (theory in looks)
2004-07-04, 8:03 AM #1
I've noticed some sorta trend with girls and boys who see each other in a relationship.

Exmpl. My last girl had dark eyes, tanned skin, long long dark hair and was very short. (half chinese) Whereas I have light hair, blue eyes, pale or tanned skin and medium height and slender build.
Genetically, VERY different, compared to if I was seeing some celtic/aryan woman

This trend I have noticed throughout my university.
Everywhere I looked, girls with dark hair went for guys with blonde hair, and girls with blonde hair went for tanned guys with dark hair!

So, post what attracts you simply in terms of looks, and lets see if there is actually something true to this trend.

Or, possibly, does it not matter? a girl is a girl and tahts that?

I'm not sure what my standards are. I know I was either spoiled in high school with lots of good looking girls or I have low standards. Of course, if I have low standards my co-workers must be extremely desperate from some of the things they've said.

In a partner? I look for quick action after I reply to their threads.

[edit: but really.. a person that...is nice or something...*shrug8 that's all that really matters?...right? DUN DUN DUN!!! But looks don't really matter..well they do to an extent, I mean she can't look like a goat or something....Then again that IS what paperbags were made for... [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif]]

------------------
I made a thread, that turned into the debate, so I made a second thread, that turned into a debate, then I made a third thread, that caught on fire, burned down, got flamed, crapped on, bashed, then turned into a debate...but the fourth one, the fourth one stayed on topic!

Build and hair colour don't really play as much of a noticeable factor in attraction compared to other facial features i've found... you'll see lots of people in relationships with someone who looks a little bit like them.

To me it tends to be in the eyes.

If someone can't draw me in with their eyes, i doubt i'd even feel a huge amount of attraction.

Call me superficial but as far as first impressions go, they gotta have it where it counts. I've developed crushes from fleeting glimpses of girls from side-on or behind.

As far as meaningful relationships go, well that's another thing entirely. Actually now that you mention it, 2 out of the 3 people I've developed 'meaningful' relationships with had blonde hair, and I have brown hair.

Everyone is just attracted to certain size ratios of facial features. It's the average of every face they've seen along with some genetic attractions thrown in the mix. I've noticed I like more almond-shaped eyes.

Yeah, I have that same problem. There is this girl at my school, with the most beautifal blue eyes, and I like her, but, uh... She doesn't like me, not like that's a surprise. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/rolleyes.gif]

None of it matters if I don't find their personality appealing.

I mean really. When I was a young'un I was damn shallow. Her specific physical attributes (hair color, eye color, height, etc.) never mattered in the least as long as all of it came together really well. I ignored everything else honestly.

Now, though, I can't really stand women unless they have some redeemable mental or emotional characteristics. Probably the closest example to what you're talking about: I find Italian feminine gesticulation really attractive. I don't know why, I just like it. The rest is more in line with their general personality or their interests.

The older I get the less important looks become.

I've found myself more attracted to girls with blonde hair and I have brown hair. But like Jon`C said, if she doesn't have a good personality, what she looks like doesn't really matter.

Generally them being of a similar heighth and build to myself is a definite plus, though that is somewhat more a pragmatic thing than a romantic thing or whatever; trying to hold hands with or talk to someone who is two heads taller than i, can be a bit awkward and neck-strainy, though a bit shorter is not really an issue.

Failing that, i find bright blue hair to be incredibly pretty, though the majority of people who try do dye it that colour do such a poor job of it.

I don't really tend to like the really exaggerated Shake-n'-Bake dark tan that seems to be really popular. Like if you are someone who spends all day outside and just naturally tan like that, more power, but otherwise.. nothing wrong with being pale and white darnit [http://forums.massassi.net/html/redface.gif] On that note, people who are at least a little nocturnal goes very well with my general schedule.

High Int and Wis and decent Cha, along with strong Will Saves, are pretty important. Having trained at least one other Language proficiency is definitely a bonus as well. Additionally, various Knowledge skills and a decently strong rank in Lore don't go over poorly either.

And considering i don't really date per se, this is mostly academic.

So far the trend has been towards dark hair and intense eyes. To be honest I couldn't say with any degree of accuracy how shapely anyone i've been interested in has been below the neck.

But yeah, a girl with intense eyes who makes eye contact when talking to you, gets me everytime.

I like chicks with nice natural eye color-- not those damn colored contacts. I like light vivid blue, but i would also take a nice rich dark blue (like i have) all the way to a nice bright green. I don't like brown eyes that much.

Face: very important--perfection is impossible to find, but the chick should at least try to lok good.

I also like blondes. (no chick that i've ever seen is natural blonde anymore, so I've pretty much given that up). Blonde can be anywhere from platinum bleach color to light brown. I prefer long hair, short hair on a woman is a turn-off to me. Medium-length is something I can live with. I like the hair to be hanging loose, not all tied up or anything like that.

*visualizes long blonde hair waving loose in the wind*

I also like chicks that have nice curves and are at least a B. Implants or natural, its all good to me, just as long as they don't sag. I hate that. it's like a wax museum that has the heater turned up too high, if oyu know what i mean.

Tan is nice, but is not a requirement.

As for the a**, I like curves, but not fat. I like legs long and smooth.

Any chick that has all this will be rated a 9.9 on my scale.

---------------------

MISC

Intelligence-- Not too important, but they should be able to carry a decent conversation w/o boring me to death.

Interests-- I generally go for chicks that are into the same things that I'm into. I don't try to appeal to her interests, she has to appeal to mine.

Sex experience: Important. She should have some experience. Virgins are nice, but they don't know what they're doing and that's not much fun.

------------------------

The least you need to know: These are the standards that i would consider to be ideal. Ideal is hard to find, but a chick has to have at least half of these specs.

Your standards don't seem particularly high...

Anyone could have compiled a list of exact "specs" they looked for, but most people realise that such a list is pointless because you'll always find yourself interested in people who don't match.

I guess I actually forgot to post what I *do* like.
I like red hair, long (longer than sholder-length) if possible (though it doesn't really matter). Curves are good, too. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/wink.gif] Average, healthy weight-to-height ratio. Too thin or too fat is unattractive.

I like a woman who can play music and who has preference to a variety of musical styles. She should be intelligent, too. Dumb people aren't fun to talk to for any length of time. I can't stand it when a girl acts like an airhead. Immaturity is a turn-off.

Personality is the 2nd most critical element to me. I like someone who can be either serious or funny at the right moments. I don't hang out with people who are jerks. I want someone pleasant to be around. I like a woman who can be completely happy just hanging out with me, rather than feeling the need to go out and do stuff all the time. I find that a lot of women want to go out a lot, and that doesn't really seem like she wants to spend time with me, but wants to spend time somewhere.

Trust is probably at the top of my list. If I can't trust the woman I'm with, there's no reason to continue seeing her. Period. No matter how many other traits she has. This doesn't just apply to a woman being faithful, but to her being trustworthy all the way around. Even lying. I want to be able to believe what a woman tells me without having to check it out. Any and all forms of trust are equally important to me.

Sexuality isn't all that important to me. Definitely nice, but not the most important. I prefer a virgin. I don't like the idea of sharing. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/tongue.gif] I am looking for a solid, long-term relationship. Flings don't turn me on. In fact, I find them boring. For a long-term relationship, sexuality would probably get bumped up my imaginary list. But it's certainly not something to seek out at the beginning of a relationship when I'm looking to get seriously involved.

I'm not too thrilled about having children. I can't stand kids. So I look for a woman who feels the same.

I feel like I'm missing a bunch of other things I look for. I've only met one woman who even comes close, lacking only three of all the above qualities (long hair, going out too often (maybe), and she wants children). Too bad she's interested in someone else. [http://forums.massassi.net/html/frown.gif] I don't know anyone else who even comes close to all these traits. Maybe my standards are way too high. (I've only dated like two other girls, and they didn't even match this list. One was a short-term relationship (3 months or so), the other was a sexual thing. I wasn't even attracted to the girl otherwise.)
