[Brag] My New 3000 dollar PC
2006-12-26, 12:29 PM #1
I get a brand new 3000 dollar PC for 100% free.
You know why? Because I'm crippled. Crippled people deserve free things.

The government wants to make taxpayers out of crippled people, as we're able to live off of government checks and not have to pay taxes if we want. The way they make taxpayers out of us is help us pay for college (I get a full ride to any public state school), transportation (I'm getting my drivers license and free 40,000 dollar vehicle modifications so that I can drive a van that I purchase.), and technology (IE, 3000 dollar PC).

So, the only catch is that I can't build the PC myself. Fair enough, I guess. I went to Best Buy last week and discussed the PC with a man who has sold me PCs for other people before. I felt like a kid in a candy store, running around the place, grabbing items off of the shelves and placing them with my new PC.

He gave me some MASSIVE deals, mostly because all of the items I was purchasing were high end, and they could cut profit on a couple items to outweigh the cost to me.

Here is the final product:

Pre-Built:
Gateway GM5260 Box
- Intel Core 2 Duo 1.86 GHz
- 2 GB
- Microsoft Windows XP Media Center 2005 Edition
- 320 GB HDD
24" Widescreen High-Definition Flat-Panel LCD Monitor
HP All In One Printer

Adding:
7900 Nvidea GFX card
500 GB Slave HDD
2 GB RAM

All of this for 0 dollars. Yes, this thread is nothing but a means for me to brag. No, Tiberium. You cannot have my old PC.

And I thought getting a 300GB harddrive for Christmas was a little overboard. 500? What the heck are you gonna put on that thing?

I also have a 300 Gig external hard drive. That'll be for LEGAL music. The base 320 gig in the box will be strictly for programs, and the 500 gig will be for videos and files.

Ask Kyle how many HDD's he's got.

I call your bluff

and Glyde, i'd imagine it's fairly easy to fill 500gb, there's a lot of porn out there. I guess 500gb would be enough if you just limit it to the good stuff.

As opposed to not wanting free stuff when you're not crippled?

I have nothing that I feel I should be compensated for as it stands now. If I was born crippled, I'd be pretty pissed. That said, I work hard to maintain a healthy state of being so something stupid doesn't happen to me.

I don't at ALL feel I deserve compensation for my parents' mismatched genes. To assume I deserve compensation is silly. I think this program makes sense considering most families with children have a lot more medical and physical expenses than other families, and the child probably never worked a normal physical job like bagging groceries or working a register. People with disabilities need help offsetting the cost of their disability, and the fact that they can only work in trained positions. They can't work their way up the latter. They have to start up pretty high.

However, I'm not complaining about the free stuff at all!

Why should you?

Though, before the peripherals, that's not actually that great a machine. A 24 inch screen is nice, but core2 duo at 1.8 ghz? 2gb ram? That's the specs on my laptop. How did all that cost $3000? I'd expect to pay about $2500 for that rig.
Wikissassi sucks.

It did seem a little high for what seems to be a lower end Core 2 Duo. Plus with the 8000 series Geforce cards out, I can't imagine a 7000 is that much. But I haven't checked the prices since they came out, so I don't know for sure. Still, the monitor is the only thing that really impresses me on that machine for the price your paying.
Life is beautiful.

In latest news: This won't be the exact PC specs. I have to talk to the regional supervisor, which means I get a 20% discount, and thus, I should be able to get a better rig. I've been working with a few people to see that it happens.

If anyone needs me, I'll be sawing off my leg.

Also, 3000$ dollars at Best Buy = 1500$ at a fair place. Still a good deal seeing as it's free.
2006-12-26, 9:13 PM #30
but why do you get compinsation in the form of such an expesive, high end computer? , that's what seems the most un-fair about these goverment programs
Laughing at my spelling herts my feelings. Well laughing is fine actully, but posting about it is not.
2006-12-26, 9:18 PM #31
No one deserves compensation for anything if you ask me.

You think I'm happy having legs that work? Do you?

Well you'd be right. I'm happy having legs that work. Having legs that work ****ing rules school.

Working does not.
2006-12-26, 9:41 PM #32
Sorry kirbs, but this is one aspect of the government I'm not too happy about.

Well one of many I should say.

I'll leave it at that.

The good feeling of working hard for something such as a $3000 computer is priceless . :P

However it would be very nice to get one for free ... :v:
Back again
2006-12-26, 10:39 PM #34
There is nothing good about the feeling of working hard when you know other people who don't deserve it don't have it nearly as hard, or hard at all. (Not talking so much about cripples)
