"Veesta", or Vihsta?

In my head I'd always heard Vista.

First time I heard it out loud was about 3 weeks ago though and they said Veesta.

However the ads say Vista.

Why do you spell one of the 'pronounced' versions like the word itself? Defeats the purpous for me.

'Veesta' is how you pronounce the word vista, so the second option makes no sense.

Kuat is right. The Spanish word "vista" is pronounced "vee-stuh", although the white-nerdy-Seattle mispronounciation used for the newest Windows platform is "vih-stuh".

Vista is Italian in origin. Check its etymology. Furthermore, it is pronounced vis-tuh. That's a fact. Check the dictionary.

If it's Italian in origin, then its proper enunciation is "Vee-stuh".

Unless you use Fibonacc-ih sequences.

I tend to say "veesta" more. This probably can be correalated to my living in New Mexico...

Even then, I say veesta as to not sound like an idiot. The examples from Steven and Wolfy are pretty much my reason.

I know the ads say vihsta, but to each their own. I'm not sure about them, but if I ever made an ad for something I'd make sure it was being pronounced right :downs:
