hey greenboy, i'm not sure what i can make of your name...

possibly a reference to your pussy liberal hippy status. or not.

calling me stupid.... ha i would honestly like to see how smart you think you are, you ****ing ignorant douche. I got into college (wow so smart, or not) and I left simply out of boredom of pre-reqs and college activities. I was raised republican, I read everyday about how the Armed Services are hurting in numbers, and i thought well at least I'll get into the shape of my life (which i am) and do something none of my friends (the hardass ones especially) would dare doing. I am in no way trying to use a 'patriotism' trump card but I wish you could look me in the eye and call me stupid when i have the American flag on my right shoulder because i would destroy you. You're a disgrace.

As far as responsible, well I'm pretty sure whenever I have a weapon in my hand I check the safety probaly every 30 seconds and I wake up at 5 am every morning. I served time in jail for my DUI (a consequence but still I took responsibility). I told my chain of command got my *** reamed.

And Spook its not disheartening in a "i dont want to go" its more like i can't get adjusted to normal life being on such rigourous training regimen and lack of down time only to know you won't ever get it because your going to be in Iraq for 15 months (almost twice what I was last time.)

Political affiliation has nothing to do with this. I'm really tired of people automatically assuming I am anti-military just because I am a liberal. I am very pro-military, I am just currently against the war in Iraq because I think it's a massive misappropriation of resources and human lives.

Call him stupid and all that, just don't align that sort of thought with being a liberal. We're not all hippies that thing we should trade all our country's guns for tie dyed t shirts, just like all conservatives aren't bible thumping nascar fans.

Exactly. I have been the most liberal Marine in almost every unit I have ever been in. At least on some stances. I'm probably more of a moderate but in the military world I'm very liberal. I think snoop probably understands that too, at least from his past posts. Could be wrong though I guess...

It just reminds me of when I worked at a political organization last summer that was mostly liberal, and 95% of the idiots working there really actually believed we should pull 100% of the national budget OUT of military spending. They thought we should get rid of the military entirely. It's unfair to use people like this as an example of a liberal. The fact is they're just idiots.

its hard to be against the man when your in the mans army right spook haha

how do you figure its a gross misappropriation of military. its like you are ignoring the fact that the middle east is/has a glaring problem since the beginning of civilization itself. I mean these people cannot get it right when it comes to peace. Its not like were guns blazing or anything. Our mission as of late 03 is hearts and minds. If anything you can't really argue that they shouldn't be there... As much as the insurgency rages with our troops over there imagine what they'd be doing given the time to organize and cheapshot us again just like 9/11. I am a conservative, i like nascar, i never thumped a bible, but i would thump a radical islamist with one.

Lay off Snoop. At least he was willing to share the truth about himself with us. If you were to do the same, which you don't have the guts for it, I'm sure we'd all think what you did was horrible too.:suicide:

If throwing a stone at you saves other peoples' lives, I'm all for it.

As for Freelancer:

WTF man? "Don't have the guts for it"? Are you saying we don't have the guts to drive drunk? Please God tell me you aren't that :downswords:

I spent a month in the Navy brig in Jacksonville FL.

It was weird.

You are an idiot. It is the subject that refers to part of the previous sentence: you don't have the guts to tell the truth about yourself, or tell us of your hooliganism.

Your sentence was grammatically incorrect, or at least confusing, Free, it did sound like you were referring to driving drunk, technically.

Although it wasn't hard to tell/assume you weren't :P
2007-04-22, 11:14 PM #54
That wasn't idiotic, that was an understandable mistake.
I assumed the same thing too until someone in the chat pointed out the possibility you meant guts to tell the truth.
You're sentence wasn't very clear.

In which case I put forth the idea that you have no basis for such a comment.

Back on topic... they let you play cards, Snoop? When I spent a night in booking (criminal trespass) I had nothing to do but stare at the walls of my tiny cell for most of the 20 hours I was there.

Except with less satire and more sickening seriousness.

1.) Drunk driving is not cool. I'm glad all it resulted in was a DUI.

2.) Hippies, stop flame-baiting. Dog faces, ignore the hippies (oh, you too, jarhead).

DUI is not clever, where is is written that you HAVE to get drunk to have fun?.

My father was a police officer and having to tell someone that their son/daughter or other relative has been killed by a drunk driver is not pleasant by a long shot.

Yeah, it was me.

When I initially read the sentence I saw the "don't have the guts to drive drunk" meaning. When I read it carefully a second time I realized you probably meant the guts to tell the truth.

It's in some military regulation ;)

Seriously, though. You guys have no idea what it's like to hear that you have to put your life on hold for up to 18 months to go defend freedoms which allow people to flame you for doing so, or flame you when you **** up. :suicide:

How do you think the Soldiers feel when we come home, after fighting for what feels like forever, and all we see is Politicians bashing the war and saying we're not doing anything over here?
It could drive anyone to drink. I myself have never drank in my life, but I can honestly tell you when we get back to Bragg I will become a heavy drinker. It's inevitable.

So, did i get this right. You were driving drunk because you have to go back to whereevertehellyouhavetogo some time in the future, yet you joined the army by your own will, and nobody forced you? If that is the case, then why the hell did you join the army if you can't take it and have to drink as much as you can before going back?

That's pathetic.

A friend of mine spent the night before Christmas in a cell for getting caught drink-driving on Christmas Eve. Bearing in mind this guy was 18 and living with his parents at the time, I can't imagine it was a very happy Christmas in his house.

Cavey, Not many people join the Army like this. It's the stress of all the BS we put up with that drives us to drink.

You can't imagine the amount of responsibility that is just dumped on you when you join the Army. No only are you responsible for yourself, but also for the person to your left/right. Plus if you are leader your soldiers are a direct reflection of you. If they mess up, it's not them who gets scuffed up, it's you.

did i say that anything about it being an excuse or saying that it was a sad truth, the army is a lifestyle not a 9-5 job... at least infantry. I don't drink as much as I can, in fact I voluntarily put myself in Army Substance Abuse Program and had my First Sgt sign off that I won't drink on April 6(or face getting chaptered out of the army) until i complete the program (sometime end of may). I am not pathetic in anyway, I love what i'm doing and sometimes alcohol can make you make bad decisions. It is hard to stay away from alcohol when all your friends and their friends drink to. Regaurdless I made a bad decision, I did what society wanted wanted me to do (jail, fine, dui school, probation)...

Anyways, I was in a huge pod bay where the bunk lined the walls with about 50 some guys inside. In the middle were three tables welded to the floor and there were some cards that had been played to death that we played spades with. It was pretty boring and I tried to sleep as much as I could.

I don't care if the entire army gets drunk, as long as they aren't drunk when they are driving on the freaking road.

I don't really get why Rob quoted me, because I'm not lame enough to edit out what I say. I don't mean that an army is useless, or that america should be a bunch of hippies who dont kill anything. I do think its really stupid to join a volunteer army during a war thats main goal isn't even to protect our country. But whatever, do what you like, just don't flame me massively because I don't like to see people join for whatever reasons, and then die needlessly.

Let me put it this way: if you drink and drive, you deserve a whole lot more than two days in jail. My uncle was killed by a drunk driver and I have no respect for anyone who gets behind the wheel after they've been drinking.
2007-04-23, 10:59 AM #76
What's with the army guys pulling this crap having a go at anyone with the temerity to question what the army is doing in Iraq. We all have at least an inkling that it's effed up out there but criticism of why we're there is not the same as a direct criticism of you.

And as for the DUI, that's retarded on an unbelievable level. My father's health is ****ed up completely thanks to some idiot who fell asleep at the wheel (same as DUI as I see it: still driving irresponsibly while judgement and reactions are impaired) and my siblings and I have grown up with a dad who is constantly angry and stressed out due to the never-ending pain he goes through. So a DUI really isn't just some throw-away, "never mind" sort of thing.

I seriously don't get how any of this makes drunk driving okay for you.
