Spiderman 3 - the official not SAJN review!

The movie was okay...I was hoping for a lot more, though, quality-wise. Again the audience was the best part, but not because they were being sarcastic or anything. At one point when Spiderman was looking around for Venom but couldn't see him anywhere, this little kid a row or two back said really loud, "He can't see him because he's black!" I couldn't breathe, I was laughing so hard. (Keep in mind that I live in Oklahoma, where people aren't really racist, but racist humor behind closed doors flourishes).

I went and saw the movie last night. I have 5 good things about it that I liked.

1. Pirates of the Caribbean. At World's End.

2. The Bourne Ultimatium.

3. Rush Hour 3

4. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.

5. Fantastic 4 and The Rise of the Silver Surfer.

Well one subliminal message implied, even though Spider Man 3 was an eye sore, we have these potential awesome movies coming soon to you. Don't give up on the summer yet.

Probably the stupidest thing I've ever seen. It's like the creators were all sitting around trying to come up with cliches to put in the movie.

The entire thing could be edited into 15 minutes.

I saw it today and enjoyed it. Definitely a bit cheesy in parts, but not the cheesiest thing i've seen by a longshot. Three villains is a bit much.

The part with the girl and the camera was cute, though. The credits listed her as Emma Raimi. Do you suppose she's the director's daughter?

Now that I think about it, it really felt like a comic book- not at all like the other two. That's probably just due to the number for villains. If it was just the symbiote and Harry, or just Spiderman and Venom, they could have made it deeper, like the other two, but with all four you can't really pull off the story the same with as they did with the other two.

it was certainly like a comic book, and the vast majority of the movie sucked.

Jeez, I must be some kind of freak because I liked this movie overall (despite the crazy wtf was that and stuff-you-would-never-do-in-a-relationship-in-real-life bits). I guess this doesn't surprise me since I liked TPM while most of you hated it too.

I'm sorry a little side bit like Jar Jar or emo looking Parker, etc, will get you guys down so much. Enjoy the movie for what it is, not hate it for what it isn't.

Well, that is how it happens in the comics -- venom is weakened by loud sounds (i.e. the church bell)

Granted, I never read them either, but I was looking around for some info on that and ended up at that page. The entire scene with Eddie being "absorbed" by venom is straight out of the comics.

But we ARE hating the movie for a sorry excuse to appeal to the 'other' side of the spectrum. It could've been done much better, with Peter being less of a rebellious emo kid and more of a badass. Instead of "I thought you'd be happy" when he 'killed' sandman he should have said "Yeah I killed that mofo with my spider webs, yo!" or something to that extent. Hey, I would've enjoyed it more if he didn't change at all and just had the suit and made some parker-esque mistakes.

When the movie comes out, I'm going to edit it into the 15 minutes it could've been.

Bad lip sync w/ Venom, too many details w/ all the villains and other characters, not deep enough, everything is last minute w/ the alliances, special effects weren't that great <well the previous guy did leave>, choppy on various parts, the whole emohair/badass act amusing but not awesome.

The movie was ok, but not amazing.

Campbell's, Stan's, and Hal's appearance were awesome.

Liked it much better than the second one. So, this Venom guy... If the alien goo amplifies someone's characteristics, I can understand why Spiderman became super strong badarse Spiderman. But why did Eddy Brock become a spider-type thing too? He didn't have spidery stuff to begin with, no? Maybe I'm reading too much into it, though.

Heh I loved it. I went expecting a superhero film with the associated cheese and laughed most of the way through the film. The bit where Spiderman briefly lands in front of a giant US flag cracked me up the most.

Was randomly browsing Wiki, found something called Mangaverse. They should've done a movie about that instead. In the Mangaverse Peter Parker is the last member of the Spider Clan of ninjas and has been taught martial arts by his sensei, Uncle Ben...

What did everyone think of Thomas Haden Church's performance as Flint Marko/Sandman? I thought he did a great job.

I think he was one of the sole redeeming factors of the film

I seriously thought the movie was terrific.

That may or may not have something to do with the fact that I've loved Spiderman since I was 4.

Indeed. They've gotten some good actors for the villains, I still prefer Molina as Doc Ock, but could definitely empathize more with Church and the Sandman. To my surprise even Topher Grace wasn't that bad as Eddie Brock. But the film as a whole... ugh...

Haven't seen it but I won't listen to anything you guys say lol

Everyone said the last Star Wars Episode wasn't good at all... and personally.. I loved it lol... I'll just have to see it to find out if I like it or not ;)

I went today. I had the whole theater to myself! I was the only one in there, I couldn't believe it.

I really liked it. A lot more than you guys seem to have.

The part at the end where Harry finally shows up to help and Peter says "a few minutes ago would have been good, too" and Harry goes "Whatcha gonna do" I bursted out laughing uncontrollably. Just the whole inanity of it all, combined with the visual--- I couldn't stop laughing for almost a minute.

I thought Spiderman 2 sucked. 3 on the other hand I liked much better. But then, I hated Blade 2, too. Blade 3 wasn't much better, though. They could've made Dracula way cooler. But I guess it's just that every Blade movie without Stephen Dorff sucked by definition.

I loved Spiderman 2 and Blade 2. Never saw Blade 3 because I hate the guy that directed it... I don't remember his name... but he also wrote that atrocious screenplay for Batman Begins.

I really liked the movie... I think you people are just overly critical :p

A lot of the gags that just seemed lame (ie. Spiderman + Flag) were probably planned because its a superhero stereotype :p

Yeah, Blade 3 was mediocre to say the least. The only thing that annoyed me in Spiderman 3 is that Peter cried every second scene. Seriously, every time that happened, I wanted to reach into my monitor and slap him across the eyeballs.

I liked it a lot, the best of the 3 movies...probably not, but some good fighting scenes, good special effects for venom.

Yes it was complicated, but so are the comics, I liked it felt like you were reading a comic book.

Oh and Stan Lee's cameo- his best ever, I love what he tells Peter "I guess one man can really make a difference...enough said". I thought it was awesome, the creator talking to peter, it was sorta like Stan Lee played himself, and he stopped the movie for a quick second to just give a brief little message.

My favorite part right there. XD

Personally, I liked that it didn't take itself too seriously like some movies, yet still managed to put a very important message across.

Spider Man > Spider Man 3 > Spider Man 2, imo.

Just got back from seeing at the new theater. I'm too mad to really post anything worthwhile save this; I want my money and time back. That was horrendous on every single level.

Same with Lethal Weapon 3.

Agreed. I was amazed people here weren't in more opposition. I can think of no good points. Sandman was well acted and a cool character? Still didn't use him as well as the show and comics did.
