"Freedom is the right of all sentient beings" It's like everything that Prime stands for all rolled up into 8 words of concentrated awesome.

Hearing Peter Culling say that line with is older more grissled voice gave me shivers. :D :neckbeard:

"Freedom is the right of all sentient beings" <- That's the line that won the contest on the Transformers site.

I was sad the "Robots in diguise" line wasn't in there. :(

Who would anyone be? Well I suppose a whole 28% of the nation still support him somehow.

I can't stand him either. That doesn't mean I want some cheap political stab in my action movie. It absolutely cheapens everything.

I don't think it was really a Bush thing, just a president thing. Clinton might have asked for ding dongs too!

No, he probably would have hit on the babe. I was very annoyed by that scene, not enough to put much thought into it though.

Did anyone catch the hint of Terminator music in one of the fight scenes? I think it was the fight where Prime used the sword to the face. Seemed to me that the six note dumdum dum dum dadum was present and repeated a few times.

Acting was iffy at times.

Completely sold on the new Camaro now. Must convince my wife how she has to have one unless an acceptable Firebird/Trans Am model follows. Then again maybe I'll pick up one of those Topkicks. Or both!

Very enjoyable film but I too was bothered by that rediculous up close and shaky filmography. The movie will benefit from a DVD small screen release as that style is much less annoying on the small screen.

Cloverfield trailer was cool. Must see more now!

Yeah, I forgot to mention that. I'm sick of action being so closely shot. It's annoying as hell, and doesn't do anything but take me out of the scene.

Meh. The whole president thing didn't bother me so much, especially considering I know Michael Bay is extremely right wing. So I know he did it in jest. I know he wasn't trying to push an agenda with that one, he was just making a joke.

I think a lot of that was in order to keep the 3d animators sane

Jesus tap-dancing Christ that was awesome.

Did anyone get a good listen to Starscream? Was his voice close to the original series? Wished he was around more, but the aerial combat with the Raptors was cool.

Devastator is a ****ing beast... That is all.

I was kinda disappointed that they didn't get "Robots in Disguise" in there, although they got "more than meets the eye" twice.

Gah, I may have to go see it again....

It was good, but not great. There was waaaaaay too much focus on the humans. I grew up with Beast Wars. You know what was great about that show? No humans taking up valuable screen time during a fight screen. I would have loved even just one full minute of bots fighting bots without any human interruptions.

What's wrong with films having a political message? Why do they have to be completely entertainment? Oh how Jean-Luc Godard would despise your comment, hah

Transformers is not the place for a political agenda.

Well, I wouldn't call that the political message of the film. It was merely another Holywood cheap shot at the president. Funny how during the Clinton era the president always seemed to be leading the charge in action movies.

You should see Transformers: Armada. The three little brats in that show made it unbearable to watch (aside from other things like crappy animation).

Is that the one that's on Cartoon Network early in the morning? Every time I see it on, I see those annoying kids and promptly turn off the TV.

I grew up with Beastwars as well. My older brothers were all big transformers fans, but neither of them have shown any interested in the movie yet. I hope to see it soon though. You know, once I have money.

I didn't think it was very good. Sure, the action was amazing, but everything in between was pretty lame. The scenes where they are searching for the glasses are some of the worst attempts at comedy in an action movie I've ever seen. The plot was silly, there were a lot of useless characters, the sector 7 guys were seriously idiots, it borrowed music from other movies (Kill Bill), and the movie was way too cheesy.

So yeah, the action was great. Even if it was shot too close. And the special effects are some of the best ever done. But as a movie? Nothing special.

Spielberg should have directed it. It'd be like War of the Worlds meets Jurassic Park.
2007-07-08, 1:19 AM #68
it was suppose to be kinda cheesey.. I mean.. come on.. it's based off of a 1980s cartoon

2007-07-08, 1:20 AM #69
Yeah, cartoon.

I dunno, the realism of the movie didn't mesh well with the cheesiness for me.
2007-07-08, 8:22 AM #70
Vinny probably wont get it because half the movie is about a teenage boy hitting on a girl. He cant relate.
"Guns don't kill people, I kill people."

Yes, I can relate, why wouldn't I be able to?

And why is a movie about giant robots from outer space filled up with flirting anyway?

There's a big difference between havening message and an attempt at garnering a few laugh by make a lame joke about a president.

One actually conveys an idea, the other has the intellectual depth of a thirteen year old Halo player.
I don't know if I need to explain this to you guys, but Transformers are robots from space and you know those Cirque Du Soleil type weirdos in the car commercial who contort themselves into the shape of a car? It's like that, they crash land on earth and are worried people will make fun of them so they pretend to be cars and planes and **** to fit in.
That's the best summary of the movie I've read. That being said, I enjoyed the hell out of the movie. I could watch the last 20 minutes over and over again.

It surpasses the last 60 minutes of it by far, but the first 20 minutes... I dunno it's close. I could watch the first 20 minutes of the '86 movie over and over again.

While I agree with what you're saying Obi, Antony makes an excellent point about Halo Players. I'll go add it to the wikipedia page about idiots.
