BIOSHOCK (xbox live demo!)

My lingering concerns about this game are now gone. I was a bit worried after watching gameplay videos that shooting things wouldn't be fun.

Shooting things is fun.

Shooting things is always (read: usually) fun. :P

Oh, I've definitely played a few games where shooting things wasn't fun. Prey, for example, didn't make shooting things particularly fun.

Downloading as we speak. I played SS2 for about five minutes (I do own it, but for some reason I never really played it), so my opinion will be that one of a non-fanboy.

The plasmid powers left me a bit unsatisfied. As someone previously mentioned, they felt like 'force powers'. Besides the visuals, I didn't really see anything that made me go: OMGZ BIOSHOCK!

I'm currently downloading the Stranglehold demo. Lets see how that goes...

Also, Free Art Book.

Very much what I think.

Actually, to the person that compared it to Prey, that is INSTANTLY what came to my mind when playing, except that they were very similar, not different.

The funny thing is, I did find it very similar to Prey, with the main distinction being that shooting things is fun in Bioshock and wasn't in Prey. This demo actually had pretty much everything I liked about Prey (except for crazy gravity stuff) and none of what I didn't like. But yeah, the atmosphere, environment, creepy little girls... very similar.

Eh, if you're comparing it to Prey then I guess it's suffering from the post-HL2 modern game tediousness syndrome ... maybe just a little bit.

Here's hoping that I'll be proven wrong.

It was kind of bland, I could take it or leave it. Don't think I'll be putting down $60 for it, that's for sure. I didn't play the whole demo, maybe I'll give it another shot sometime.

Downloaded Strangehold at the same time, we'll see how that goes tonight.

Are we taking into account that the demo probably doesn't give you a sense of the plot and full atmosphere? I bet the Deus Ex demo was really bland.

Yeah, BIOSMOCK!, DX demo was just Liberty Island... not really the fun part of the game.

The atmosphere was great, I really liked the world they created. It was actual gameplay that I didn't really enjoy.

The amount of irony contained in this is retardedly huge.

I'm not OVERLY excited for the game, I think it'll be worth a *snip* as FGR pointed out, but probably not throwing down 60 bucks for.

I'm waiting for Spore, Hellgate: London and Starcraft 2.

I know. And believe it or not (probably not) I was waiting to see how long it'd take for someone to catch that. :P

The 360 version didn't look nearly as purty as I thought it would. The water was nice, but the rest was, meh.

I'll wait for the demo on the PC and see if it looks any better.

The Deus Ex demo was kind of cool. It didn't really get you into the world, though.

I am quite literally throwing up in my pants with anticipation... :o

I wonder if my store has any?

Maybe today will be the day I apply for the credit card and snag an xbox with no interest or payments for six months.

I must be the only person here with a 360 that's got the game preordered, and wants to save that first glimpse of the game for when the full version arrives in my hands.

I hadn't realised it was coming out so soon, else I probably would've held off until payday (a week today).

I played just 5 mins or so of the demo last night before I needed to go and get some kip - it felt great.

One of my friends said the same thing. I wasn't convinced I wanted the game until I played the demo, so I don't feel too bad about already knowing what happens in the first half-hour or so.

Actually, now I come to think of it, if the demo comprises of the 1st half hour, that's probably enough to keep me entertained till I can get my grubby mitts on the full version - I've barely had a chance to play on my XBox with decorating my house!

If you just ran straight through it'd be a lot shorter. There's a LOT of stuff to stop and look at.
