BIOSHOCK (xbox live demo!)
2007-08-16, 6:35 PM #81
I on vacation, so I missed it when it first came out.

This demo proves everything I've seen in videos, and backs up all the hype it's garnered over the past several months.

Few games get atmosphere right. Everything you see, everything you hear, it all contributes to an amazing experience. Ken Levine knows what he's doing, he did it in System Shock, and he's doing it again.

The shot when you come over the ridge, and the speakers introduce Rapture, it just blew my mind, all of the sudden, I was IN Rapture. The suspense before you enter the medical wing, the fear as you're approaching the splicer with the baby carriage. On top of the atmosphere, something he's done before, it's actually fun, the control scheme keeps the action fast and furious, the plasmid and weapon options promise to keep every battle interesting.

I could go on, but you all probably know how I already feel, and needless to say I'm getting the special edition the day it comes out.

Oh, and

Bioshock.

I think they're planning to release it tomorrow for non-Fileplanet subscribers.

Oh well, 94% of Bioshock preloaded via Steam.

I have it on pre-order but I don't want to play the demo because I want to experience everything for the first time.

It starts you off at the beginning, if that helps.

Anyone else get the special edition? It's a steal at only $10 more.

I held a copy in my hands today.

But I could not purchase it. :(

Not that great?

I've never seen a game score an AVERAGE press review of 9.9. Never ever. The game will be outstanding at the least.

Hmmm this is generally not my type of game, but damn that was good. I think may yet pick up a copy.

I found the graphics to be exquisite.
