Is the game set to automatically update? They fixed a problem like that in an update a couple days ago... not sure if Steam lets you play games online if they're not completely uptodate though.

I just downloaded it yesterday so I think it's the latest version. I'm wondering if it's my drivers, but since it's a laptop I have to get drivers through Dell. I guess I have to wait until Dell decides to update their drivers.

I'm playing it on a Go FX 5200 on my laptop, and it seems to work OK. I also had to update my drivers from laptopvideo2go.com, but between that, dxlevel 81, and absolute minimum graphical settings, it seems to be running ok now (I was able to play a 10 minute match without it crashing).

According to that page I need a LOT of driver updates. Dell is way behind. Unfortunately, my video driver appears to be ok. I was hoping it would be an easy fix. Should I trust the drivers from this site? I've never heard of it before.

ATI Equivalent (From Driver Heaven of course).

Never tried this myself, but DH has a history or reliable hacks. Still, all the normal disclaimers apply. (uninstall all previous drivers first, don't do this the night before you have some serious typing/research/programing to get done...)

I've never done the uninstall drivers before installing new ones thing.


Does it really make dick of a difference, or is it just like some sort of nerd stigma?

99.99999% of the time it's unnecessary. But I spent a few years doing tech-support for a formality Nvidia, now ATI video card reseller (not too hard to figure out which one), and every once in a while it honestly does make a difference.

Nothing critical, but sometimes things just get messed up, and you find yourself unable to install ANY video drivers until you do something like download and run DriverCleaner (form the same site as above).

Mostly, its just stigma though.

I uninstalled the old drivers just to be safe. West Wind, thank you!! I just played for a full half hour before it crashed again! Now I just need to get more RAM. 1GB isn't cutting it.

Almost forgot, is it safe to disable AVG anti-virus while playing if I still have my firewall up? I'm hoping it will give me back some valuable system resources.

Oh God, it was! I can't wait until it plays without freezing!

I sure hope the demoman gets a shotgun again, it sucks not having a normal gun.

Yeah, I agree, the demoman needs a normal gun. Also pyro needs a range increase on the flamethrower.

Pyro and spy should die and go to hell. Especially the spy.

It still crashes randomly. I hope like hell this is fixed with the retail version.

The spy is the only effective defence against guy who plays too many video games and always picks sniper because he can head shot you from across the level through nine door ways.

Nope, Pyro does not get his Rocket things. Just the flamethrower, a shotgun, and a fire-axe.

I really does feel like they need to give the Pyro a boost though, he really does not see allot of action.

I get killed by the pyro alot. :/

Pyro, Sniper, and Spy are all very annoying.

I like ganking demoman players that try to camp as the spy.

Really? For me Pyto's are pretty much the least threatening players on the battlefield. They can sometimes be nuisance, but that's about it... weird.
