Eh, I didn't write it. I found the general article funny. Just because it has some lame bits doesn't mean its not funny overall.

However, I am totally willing to take a ban if Darth_Xasthur gets one too. It'd be for the good of the community. >_>

I knew my wife a month before we got engaged :-p. Dated offically two weeks. We were engaged for a year and I'm now 1 1/2 years into marriage. Greatest choice of my life. I think it is important to remember there is no set rule on such things. While it is good to get lots of advice coming from both angles never let the opinions of others overrule what you feel is right unless you have like a ton of people you trust telling you that you have lost your mind. In my case I only had like 1/4 of my friends tell me that...oh and JediGandalf and one other I think told me that my marriage would fail on the chat.

What cracks me up is that I bet 95% of these replies are from unmarried guys. Personally I say marriage is one of the greatest things you can ever do in your life. Still, you need to be ready for it. Make sure you're ready, that's all I can say. I was 25 when I got married, but my wife was 19. We dated for a year and have been married for 2 and a half wonderful years. Normally I'd say 19 is waaay to young. But she was ready.

So how do you know?

-Does she make you a better person?
-Does her family like you?
-Does your family like her?
-Does she seem to have things together? (a job, self-confidence, etc)
-Do you have it together?

Make sure you're not wanting to marry someone if they (or you) are lacking in self-confidence. It's better to wait until you're strong enough. A good rule of thumb is whether you were happy at all before you met her. If you were then you probably are self-confident. If not, she's probably a band-aid.
-There are easier things in life than finding a good woman, like nailing Jello to a tree, for instance
