Seriously, though, what's with this latest trend of pointing out meaningless minutiae for the purpose of ridiculing people? Just because it's funny when it's used to point out hypocrisy, doesn't mean it's funny all the time. The only reason it's funny then, is because the hypocrite is the one who is always anal about everything in the first place.

How could a rational person derive a sense of supuriority from pointing irrelevant mistakes? The reason they exist is because they don't matter. Pointing them out doesn't make you an awesome detective, it makes you retarded.

It's one thing if a person uses words like "u" and "wuz" in one large block of text that could have been taken straight out of an AOL chat room, because that just shows a lack of respect for anyone trying to read what you've written. But if someone doesn't capitalize their sentences, or doesn't always pay perfect attention to their spell check, that has very little effect on the readability of a post. Pointing on those errors about as entertaining as spam.

Obi, you give some very very good points. I never though of using things like "u" and "waz" and disrespect, That is just how i type. So that in itself is helpful. It is funny, because that whole "spelling" thing is a BIG problem for me with typing, because i never take any time to type right or anything of that nature.

I obviously do NOT know the "ways" of the fourm as everyone else here dose, and yes it takes time to adjust. I do my best and hope for the best, i have much respect for massassi and for the people involved in it.

Obi, the way in which an individual chooses to communicate speaks volumes. Much of the banter in this forum is of a light and frivolous nature and so I agree with you that we needn't care so much for adherence to the mechanics and style of the language; however, you had attempted to embark on a more serious discussion. I did you the courtesy of reading your text because I predicted that I would value your contribution.

When writing, even in casual correspondence above the level of "AOL chatroom" banter, a lack of attention to detail alienates readers and suggests ignorance on the part of the author. When I point out your errors, Obi, I am not trying to amuse you -- I am trying to belittle you with the hope that you might pay a little more attention when typing in the future. Furthermore, I am expressing my annoyance with what I perceive as your lack of respect for the rules of decent and comprehensible communication.

I do not point out your errors in order to "derive a sense of supuriority [sic]" -- it is already clear to me that I am better than you. Instead, I am doing this as a service to you. The fact that you not only defend your irreverence towards proper spelling and punctuation but demonize me for sweeping up the fragments of literary detritus that trail behind you confirms that it is you who are "retarded," not me. And by "retarded" I mean possessing of a stunted perspective on the proper use of the language. If you continue to refuse to type properly when speaking seriously, I will no longer take the time to read anymore of your drivel in a serious light.
