Sam can keep swimming forever and never fatigues. The only way anything interesting will happen to Sam if Clyde the shark DOESN'T eat him is if we all grow tired of him and he fades off the 2-days page and then Geb brings the thread back with a neener-neener, Sam sank, you forgot about my meme thread. BUT! If Clyde the shark DOES eat Sam, who knows what will ensue?!

Yeah, I'm still not able to come up with a satisfactory solution to all that. Admittedly, though, I'm not terribly concerned at the moment. Everyone should feel free to suggest ways of improving this game. I already have another forum game in mind that should work a little better, we'll see.

Oh, and because I can -- swim Sam, swim!

My suggestion: Sam should have some goal in the distance, a safe haven on the end of the line. If he makes it to some island or boat or something, he will have evaded the shark. If he doesn't make it by page 5, he gets fatigued and treads water, and Clyde catches up with him. If Clyde gets to him... muahahahaha

EXAMPLE:

One would thus remove a dot from between Clyde and Sam and add one behind Clyde to support Clyde. To support Sam, one would add one dot behind Sam and subtract one between Sam and the haven boat.

Why not make the entire distance of the game finite.

IE, make 20 spaces. You play by moving the shark either forward or backward. Forward to kill sam, backwards to not kill sam

I don't.

Once Sam is so far ahead of the shark it becomes pointless to move the shark because it will never catch up to Sam

How fatalistic. Even if Sam were one space from the boat, if everyone afterwards moved the shark, the shark would still eat Sam. Nothing's for certain.

Do you just get up an leave a sports game before it's over if your team is behind several points?
