And suddenly The Clone Wars isnt as attractive... (Minor Spoilers)

Just read this (Pretty smart for an 8 year old)

Hmm...

It never was attractive to me. Crap artistic style for the characters totally pushed me away.

Star wars died to me at episode 2... never saw three... probably will never bother with another star wars anything for a while. Even "The Force Unleashed" doesn't look too entertaining.

I thought Episode 3 was the best out of the Prequels.

(The book and deeper insight on Anakin / Vader's feelings were actually excellent. Though I really wish Lucas had not gone for the love sick puppy turned rabid pitbull approach at Vader's downfall. Of course, that was inevitable from halfway through EP1.)

I never understood the ending of Episode 3. Why does Padme die? Seems like a half-assed attempt to be deep. And don't say because of a broken heart, but I don't want to believe that. Whatever.

Honestly I had pictured Vader falling to the dark side of the force because of the temptation of just having a greater power to draw from. In a way, I guess that's kind of what happens given that he tries to get the power to prevent people from dying. However, I always pictured Vader in the original trilogy as just being a badass who really wanted to be the best, which is why he probably turned in the first place.

I refuse to see this movie because Jabba couldn't have had a son. That's not how hutts work.
2008-08-08, 8:36 AM #9
Quote:
Hutts were hermaphroditic, and as a result, gender was more of a case of a Hutt's deliberate decision or a viewer's deduction. Often, Hutts carrying children were referred to as female, though it was entirely up to the Hutt in question as to if the distinction was accepted or not. For instance, Jiliac was referred to as a female after becoming pregnant, but Popara and Zorba still considered themselves males after birthing their respective children. In addition, some Hutts were known to take mates with each other, such as Gorga and Anachro.

Oh, I guess I was wrong. Still, the hutts, and particularly Jabba, are notorious crime lords. Why would the Jedi be helping them?

But I thought to myself "maybe this wont be as bad as Episode I-III"

She was destined to die as pretty much laid out by the implications in the older SW movies. What actually pissed me though, is lucas had done well to cover his tracks and make things seamless all up to the point where she dies in labor. This is not possible if you reference the classic movies because Leia says she had memories of her mother. It is assumed by her statements her mother basicially died of self negligence due to massive depression.

Very disappointing if you pay attention to such details.

The prequels don't exist to me.

They were terribly done with some of the worst acting I've ever seen, but I ended up seeing all of them with groups of friends.

I especially hated how hyped Darth Maul was, only to have one line of dialogue and two noteworthy scenes. Then he just died. .(
It took a while for you to find me; I was hiding in the lime tree.

I think you're "supposed" to take what Leia said to refer to her adoptive mother, not Padme.

That and once Vader falls to the dark side, I doubt anyone would have wanted to sit and watch the rest of the movie about Padme falling into depression and dying.
Life is beautiful.

The artistic style isn't "crap". While you may not like it, I think it's great and very unique. I think it's a bit overly simplistic, but goddamn does it make for some clean art.

I suppose, but I always assumed her adoptive mother was the wife of Bail Organa who we never saw in the old movies. I just assumed that they were alive on Alderaan, up until its destruction.

Also, what would be the point of Leia mentioning her mother as being very sad if it was just Organa's wife? I think it was hinting more at she was depressed because her husband was a biomechanical homicidal maniac.

Just my 0.02.

I agree, I wrote a review of ghost rider a while back... or at least my personal opinion of it and I added this...

Quote:
Then when he „falls“ it's portrayed as a big deal… he fell like 2 feet and the bike didn't even land on him… so the guy died from what? from being singed by some fire? from popping his hip outta place? I dunno, it was a ****ing weak death scene and if I was the kid I wouldn't be so mad at the devil, I'd be more made that my dad just died from tripping on his shoe laces, what a pansy.

That right up there with Padme dying from a broken heart in Star Wars… honestly, who he **** dies from a broken heart? and second of all, the doctor that diagnosed her was a god damn medical droid.

I don't think a ****ing droid is capable of making that kind of medical opinion, its a ****ing robot, pump the ***** full of pills and make her live. how the hell does a robot know that she just gave up on life and lost the will to live? your a damn robot, you've got no emotion, your programed to keep her alive. Personally i think the things batteries were dying and had to go recharge and when he came back Padme was dead. so instead of trying to tell Obi-wan that he pissed off and she croaked he made some bull**** excuse about emotions so that the jedi could relate and not get pissed and rip out his robot do-hickies that make him run.

Same reason why all the Jedi that were able to fend off huge crowds of monsters in Episode 2 suddenly became easy as pie to kill--because the plot needed it. I found Episode 3 even more over dramatic than the first two, with even worse dialog, and cornier gimmicks. I'm not sure I ever understood what everyone loved so much about the lightsaber battles; the camera was zoomed in so close most of the time that I could hardly tell what was going on. At least in the first two prequels they had cool enough choreography that they weren't afraid to zoom out and show all the action.

Why is it so hard to accept someone dying of birthing complications? It happens.
(so does dying from a 2 foot drop too if you land badly, but I haven't seen Ghost Rider so I dunno)

you have to agree though, the saber scenes in episode 1 were epic and will go down as probably the best in SW history.
