Force Unleashed Demo Released Today
2008-08-21, 3:23 AM #1
I just got it off of Live. The demo is only one short level, but I was having fun the whole time. I was throwing TIE Fighters at Storm Troopers from the very beginning. Awesome. The controls are simple and the powers look cool. When PA's comic said they put lightning onto their lightsaber and attacked with it, I thought they were exaggerating. They weren't. Not at all. I wasn't interested in this game at all, but now I can't wait for Sept. 16th.

Go try it now!

Not coming to pc means no pc demo means I'll have to wait till the game is actually out =\

Not that my computer would support it, but damn do I wish they'd release it on PC so I could mod it. :suicide:

Maybe it will come eventually, like GTA IV?

One can only hope, though ported games generally don't do all too well on the modding scene. (lack of tools, etc.)

Grip will be your most used power in this demo, but there's so much satisfaction in it. Everything you throw either explodes or screams. Over the top for sure, but fun.

Thats what I like about it. I don't want another crappy game with passive-aggresive weak force powers. I want to blow things up!

I have it downloading now. I forgot about it until I saw this thread, but then I ran in to my room and proceeded to turn on the Xbox 360 and begin the download.

From what I read, it should be on both today.

I plan on trying it once I get home from work... I may try both versions, though I'm almost certain in the end I'll get the 360 version.

Will definitely check it out when I get a chance.

I played it and whilst it was quite fun, I was also very underwhelmed.

It looks cool and all and the euphoria stuff is quite clever but gameplay-wise it felt even shallower than Jedi Academy in that it's even more arcade-y and less star-wars-y.

I'll probably buy it but I wish they'd make a more restrained Star Wars game rather than just BIGGER FORCE POWERS THAN EVER BEFORE.

I downloaded it just a bit ago and played through. I found it pretty entertaining. It's definitely over the top, but that seemed like a lot of the fun to me.

from a Games Design system point of view the game is awful, i wont be downloading it (even if i had a computer that could run it) and i hope LucasArts wise up.
Code:
if(getThingFlags(source) & 0x8){
  do her}
elseif(getThingFlags(source) & 0x4){
  do other babe}
else{
  do a dude}

Could you elaborate on that?

I wasn't impressed at all. It got repetitive. Fast.

It seems like a physics simulator, not a game.

Right, a demo of a physics simulator.

I remember the good old days when a magazine cover disc of game demos was more than enough to compensate for me not being able to afford more than two games a year.

Downloading it right now on my PS3.

Boy, that was entertaining. While of course the demo lacked in terms of actually storyline, it certainly put forth the force and physics system of the game. I have a total blast throwing around those rebel troopers, and I get a certain sense of enjoyment everytime I tear a door open with force push.

While some may find the force powers too flashy and over the top, thats honestly one feature of the game I actually enjoy. With the new euphoria and physics engine, its a real blast tearing the world apart.

I've beaten the demo over 5 times on Sith Lord now. I can't wait for September 16th now.

My only gripe so far is that there does not appear to be any way to aim a force push after you start charging it.

I thought it was average at best. Then again, it was only a single level. Sorry, but it's always been my opinion that you cannot do lightsaber combat or force "throwing" without a mouse. I just absolutely hate having to use an analog stick :/

Also you can't do any sort of areobatics.

And the lightsaber combat totally fails to be in any way interesting.

Downloading on PS3 rigt now. Which is what I'm browsing Massassi on. Curse myself for not having a router.

Ugh. Fighting the at-st just convinced me not to buy it.

The thing will shoot you as you're standing up, which knocks you back down again.

You're making me wonder how you could kick my *** in Gears :P

I found this demo, even on Sith Lord, far too easy.

That's what did it? That just sounds like poor luck. It killed me once, but that's it. It was the first enemy where you couldn't just stand there and let it hit you. I actually had to move around. Then I found out there was a button combo thing you could do to it, kind of like in God of War. Some people even managed to push it off of the ledge.

Well. There's also the bad controls, the jerky movement;

But mostly what did it is it's complete failure to make me feel like a Jedi. Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy had better lightsaber combat, this one is just a button-masher.
