Um, what is the text taken from the Qur'an? And since when is that inherently offensive?

I'm getting really sick of how much hate is in this country.
2008-10-17, 9:09 PM #7
Eh, I guess I retract that a bit.

First of all, the two lines were:

Quote:
"كل نفس ذائقة الموت" ("kollo nafsin tha'iqatol mawt", literally: 'Every soul shall have the taste of death')

"كل من عليها فان" ("kollo man alaiha fan", literally: 'All that is on earth will perish')

And second, apparently using text from the Qur'an in song is a no-no in Islam.

So?
2008-10-17, 9:15 PM #9
So they obviously don't want to release a game that that is offensive to anyone.

If they are offended by it, that's their problem.

There's always something that offends somebody. Catering to everyone that gets offended is simply not feasible.
2008-10-18, 8:20 AM #19
The trick is to not offend the people that take things far too seriously. :P
nope.

I swear, muslims are the biggest whiners known in the religious world. I'd rather listen to a 4th generation holocaust survivor decendant use their great great grandparents experience as a crutch, then listen to another muslim throw a pissfit because someone made an obscure reference to them or their history.

(NOTE: before anyone goes OMFG ape****, I am only referring to the muslims who feel the need to complain at every whim. Not the muslim religion as a whole as I am sure there are plenty who think this is rediculous as well.)

Of course.. It's totally wrong to have two minor references to the Qua'ran in a video game meant for harmless entertainment..

It is however, perfectly OK and divine of you to strap a bomb to yourself and kill as many people as possible, claiming it is all in the name of the Qua'ran and your God.

It's silly to expect someone to who doesn't believe your religion to follow it's statues. And to get offended when they don't is moronic. Unless they are doing something that intentionally mocks your religion or is disruptive to it's practice, (say, walking into a Hindu temple eating a hamburger) you should shut the hell up. And even the, there is a such a thing as an over reacting. You can't change someone's opinion by getting angry.

YES!!!

you should join my favorite organization, P.O.O.P. (People Offended by Offended People)

seriously though. you can make all the "offensive" comics, posters, comments, graphics, movies... ect. about Christianity that you please (which i fully believe you have the right to do so) but allah forbid someone makes a crack about islam... or even a slight misrepresentation, or names a classroom bear after muhammad... it is all bull s**t pandering if you ask me.
Welcome to the douchebag club. We'd give you some cookies, but some douche ate all of them. -Rob

Stop whining. They've obviously decided that they'd prefer not to offend anyone with their game. That's fine and perhaps even admirable.

it all started with zelda OoT too..

that song didnt even sound like their prayer.

I don't understand why muslims always piss and moan and then get special treatment. How about the christians getting constant flack, or the mormans, or jehova witnesses. Why don't we give them special leway too? We can have a jesus in south park but god forbid (no pun intended) we ever have muhammad.

People need to understand and come to terms with the fact that the worldwide trend right now is to mock, ridicule, and deface anything that isnt scientificially proven or suggest an unseen supernatural force. Its totally rediculous.

That article linked to another article about how, in resistance fall of man. Sony pissed off england by using the Manchester church or something like that.. so I guess they are trying not to piss anyone else off

The South Park thing is a legitimate gripe. South Park is meant to be crude, shocking and offensive. There's no reason Muslims should be spared their mockery, any more than Christians or Scientologists.

LBP is an E-rated family video game. It's just good business for Sony to avoid offending people with a title like this. They discovered there was something in their game that might offend people and they took it out. That's all.

the church of england got pissed because a game that takes place during a fictional war that happens to be taking place IN ENGLAND includes a church that happens to be in england

god forbid games that take place in real locations actually include real landmarks

I think the problem was that you were killing things with large guns inside an accurate representation of a real cathedral who weren't even consulted.

Or something like that anyway.

Also, THEY DID.
