This is quite blatantly cheating but I thought some of you might be interested in what was posted over on GameFAQs a while ago. If you're having trouble keeping Dogmeat alive (and want to), there's a console command you can enter in order to make him plot essential (becomes unconscious at zero health, revives after the fight is over). Just open the console and type "SetEssential 0006a772 1" (without the quotation marks, and that's three zeroes at the beginning). There's a code like this for each of the followers you can recruit. Might prevent a few annoying quick loads, I don't know.

Well what the hell..? I got this sawed off shotgun and a combat shotgun that take 5-6 rounds to put one down (at point blank).. the assault rifle is a joke and I don't even want to talk about the 10mm

Are you guys going to jip me out like you did with Fable 2?

Or do you honestly recommend getting this game?

Also, thanks yoshi for the screenshots, they look pretty cool. Can you customize your character (glasses, different hair style, etc)?

How odd. I've found sawed-off and combat shotguns were the best weapon against Super Mutants. Takes 2-ish VATS shots for me. 3-4ish non VATS.

How high is your Small Guns skill / Agility?

I have pretty good luck with the hunting rifle against Super Mutants. I'd use the sniper rifle all the time, but I can't seem to find enough ammo to do that.

Yessir. It's worth every penny.

ZANARDI--Do yourself a favor, keep your guns repaired, sneak attack them, and use VATS. More damage, more crits, and it just looks awesome.

I found once I got the hang of using VATS in conjunction with the real time combat things became MUCH easier.

What can I do to make lots of money? I have 1 HP, can't afford any stimpaks, I've run out of most of my ammo. It sucks, cause if I try to do some exploring to find things, I get killed by a rad scorpion or a raider. I can't fix the leaky pipes because my skills suck, nobody wants to team up with me. I'm almost at a loss

Agh..too many games. First I need to beat The Witcher, NWN2, Oblivion (might give up on that one..it takes forever)..Max Payne 2, GTA3/VC/SA..etc..

There's a Common House in Megaton. I've not been inside, but I think it's somewhere you can stay for free (but the beds suck).

Been there, it wouldn't let me sleep in them and I couldn't figure out if I could 'buy' the bed for the night but I didn't see any dialog that would let me purchase

Fast travel to Megaton, see if you can't pawn what you got for a night with nova, go from there?

I've been lusting after this game ever since I saw those in-depth gameplay videos with the Megaton nuke mission. Haven't bought it yet because I'm inordinately busy and I want to dedicate a few whole days to the best aspect of Bethesda games (really any interactive media), exploration.

I was disappointed when I heard there aren't any vehicles or road warrior-style gangs, nor even thunderdomes ruled by beautiful ebony queens (that doesn't "fit in with the Fallout universe" apparently :saddowns:)

Well just beat the game. Um, it sure unravels fast. @_@

Pretty epic though. Good ending.

I was level 18, so I'm not 100% satisfied. I believe its going to be time to roll a new character, new style and go from there. Gotta hit 20 and map all points!

Oh.. man. I just did the assault on the capital. I waited til the Talon Mercs got to the rotunda with the Behemoth.. watched the mutants and mercs battle it out for a little, then dropped a mini-nuke on the whole lot of them. Epic.

I just finished (yes the quest has been waiting because I didn't have the skills) the Atomic Bomb quest in megaton. AKA, I disarmed it. Now, I have my own home in Megaton with various themes I can buy for it.

Is there any reason why when I put 9 shots from a perfectly good assault rifle into someones face at point blank with VATS it doesn't put them down..?

I've asked you before, what is your Small Guns skill? What is your gun condition?

Also, keep in mind that this game isn't meant to be a realistic first person shooter where 1 shot to the head kills everyone. Its an RPG with a lot of number crunching in the background. Shots to the head cause more damage yes, but they aren't going to kill them on the spot.


Edit : Oh and "Point Blank" has no effect on damage in this game, only on accuracy

Yeah I can often kill a super mutant (even a heavy) with 2-3 shotgun blasts.

Now I have a scoped magnum things are better...

Once you get Lincoln's repeater, how do you keep it repaired? Do you just have to pay someone every time you want it fixed?

Well my small weapons was down, but I didn't realize what weapons it covered, now I have it at 50. Updated some of my s.p.e.c.i.a.l. and perks, repair weapons, got better armor. Sold a lot of ****, stole a lot of ****.. and things are getting better.

The Small Guns and Big Guns skills are a bit misleading if you just read the names themselves. Almost made the same mistake my own self.

I've just started a new character which is going to be a sneakier, scout-type character. I'm going to map the whole map and find as much stuff as I can before getting bored with the game, this time around.

I felt so very bad today. When I neared the southern entrance of the Scrapyard, a random wastelander woman came running up to me, screaming for help. Raiders had strapped her to active explosive. Try as I might I was unable to disarm them. I felt so bad as I saw her run off again screaming, then hearing the sound of explosives activating and hearing her scream "Oh god they are going to go off!" Then there was a giant boom... I watched in horror...just to yelp in horror as her ****ing dismembered ****ing torso landed right next to me. :tinfoil:

Yeah I had a moment like that. Was walking towards a barn when 2 wastelanders came running out followed by the head of a third.

Then the deadclaw came out....
