Not in my case. When I've just started playing, I've reported that Mister Burke wants to blow the town up. The sheriff then went to speak with Burke, and Burke shot the sheriff in the back and left. I'm level 17 now, and I've already searched Tenpenny Tower, but he's not there either.

I bet he's at his house in Megaton, the one on the lowest level on a slight ramp, next to the bomb.

Also does it strike anyone as odd that when Burke shot the sheriff in the saloon and I looted his body, no one cared that it had happened and they left his half naked body lying on the floor for ages? You'd think Bethesda would have scripted some sort of NPC reaction to this scene. .(

Yes, that did strike me as a little bit odd. He's not in his house, by the way (I've picked the lock).

So I went looking for this "alien ship" thing and didn't find it. But I did find Oldey Town or whatever it is with all those brawler thingies up north. (near vault 92)

Anyhoo, walking along theres this "trap" where you stand on a sheet of metal and it collapses and the only direction you can go is through a door through the "oldie town" sewers.

Which is full of those giant brawler things. At the end of it is this SWEET medical power armor, with 25% radiation resist and like 45ish damage resistance.

Pretty awesome.

That's where I used vats to to kill the guy before he shot the sheriff, couldn't find the sheriff after that though but then my pc died recently so I haven't looked much since, hopefully I'll have it running again soon

It's almost directly north of the MDPL-13 power station. Which is north of the mine field and north east of the Germantown HQ

Does anyone have a glitch where people in megaton just seem to die for no reason?

I've found three people in megaton dead for like no reason, and I don't know why. I guess they're fighting each other.

The guy that owns the bar near the bomb, lucy west, and the water processing guy are all dead and I didn't do it.
2008-11-18, 2:08 PM #208
Why is it that any object related to water can be drank from? I tried using a toilet, my character leaned down and sipped from it. I tried using a valve on a water tower, my character leaned down and sipped from it. THAT ISN'T EVEN POSSIBLE.

Oh, you know, I bet they got into the radiation water and that killed them.

The preacher guy seems to be immune despite the fact that standing in irradiated water all day should probably kill you.
2008-11-18, 2:35 PM #210
I haven't seen any evidence that NPCs die of radiation poisoning. Where did you find them?

Yeah that worried me. It was even a dirty toilet with like... poop in it.

The water processing plant guy is on a set of stairs, lucy and and the bar guy are both on the ground on the lowest level. Lucy is near Moriarty's house, and bar guy is near the doctor's house.
2008-11-18, 4:03 PM #213
I didn't think you drink from the toilet.. but perhaps relieving yourself is what gives you HP

No you totally sip from the toilet.

How do I get the power armor perk?

You have to get it from the Brotherhood in the Citadel. If you can't get into the Citadel yet, you need to get farther in the main quest. No idea what happened to the people in Megaton, by the way. My bet is that one of them freaked out and knocked off the other two, and then got capped by the sheriff.

Can one of the people on PC noclip and talk to the guard in Megaton that is just hanging out on top of the entrance?

Just loaded up an old save from near Megaton, and he says (and I quote):
"The more time I spend talking to you, the less I'm spending watching for Raiders.

How the Hell did you get up here, anyway?"
2008-11-18, 6:12 PM #218
Hahaha, thats cool. I was hoping it was some cool easter egg.
2008-11-18, 7:42 PM #219
Probably a bug, but I once came out of Megaton and that guard was replaced by a hostile raider for no apparent reason (I heard shots fired off in some distance, though). So I shot him down.

I talked to him once while he was walking toward the main gate from town early in the morning.

Old Oldey is the name of the town I was in.
It's full of those deathclaw things.

Has anyone been there in the sewers in Old Oldey yet?
Best armor I've seen in the game so far

I've just finished the game, but I saved before the awesome giant robot raid on the Purifier and will probably set out to explore some more.

I'm at level 20 and the game is ridiculously easy. I never used power armor, since my custom plasma rifle (the one you get from Harkness) takes care of pretty much anything the game has to throw at you in a max of 2 or 3 shots, and then Charron (dressed in Reilley's Ranger's armor, combat helmet, and stylish sunglasses) finishes off whatever's left. That guy was worth every penny.

I still haven't found Harold or the alien crash site. And yeah, a colleague of mine spoke about this awesome experimental armor. He said the armor even talks to you , which, if true, is extremely cool. However, I think he said he found it lying in a crate in Big Town ?

The alien crash site is north of Minefield, and a bit further north than the MDPL-13 Power Station. You'll know when you're close because you pick up a radio signal from it. The ammo for the Alien Blaster is very rare since it's so powerful, but I believe you can find more in a limited number of locations (including Fort Constantine, I am informed). I also hear that occasionally a random encounter pops up which consists of a loud boom. This is supposed to be another ship crashing nearby, but I didn't know this at the time so I never really looked around.

The awesome experimental armour is found in Old Olney. It's a ruined town to the NE of the world map, East of Vault 92 (within spitting distance, practically). A large grate in the North end of town will collapse if you stand on it, with the only way out being through the sewers. There's a few Deathclaws inside, and near the end you'll find a dead Brotherhood initiate surrounded by corpses. The initiate is wearing the armour, but it isn't pleasant (same voice as a Mr. Gutsy*). Also, although it's a side tunnel you find the armour in, follow it to the end for a copy of "Duck and Cover!".

Your final spoiler (technically the first) can be found in Oasis, to the far North, where Bob (or Herbert) has overtaken Harold and rooted him to the ground. You'll need to talk to the Tree Worshippers in the area to actually gain access to Harold, though. There's a pretty decent quest involved. To be honest, Oasis is a little tricky to really find, since you need to follow a cutting in the mountain up to it. You can get a map marker from some mercenaries who I found on a section of destroyed bridge to the East of Girdershade.

* "Listen up, you God-Damn puke. You are now wearing Prototype Medic Power Armour. You keep me safe, and I'll keep you safe."

So basically, it's good and worth getting?
Sneaky sneaks. I'm actually a werewolf. Woof.
2008-11-19, 7:21 PM #227
Oh that's the armor talking!?

I thought it was the enclave helmet I was wearing.

Sweet!

Yeah, it says stuff like "let's kick some a$$" or "gear up soldier" whenever an enemy shows up on your radar (amongst some other things)

Yeah, it's also audible to enemies, making sneak attacks impossible

I'd say yes. But I'd also say that if you do get it that you should pace yourself on the main quest, which I found a bit abrupt. I could lose (and have lost) hours exploring and doing side quests, which I think is the main reason why I enthuse so much about it on here.

I've heard of a glitch where NPCs have fallen to their death through Megaton's walkways.

Took me a couple of tries, the first couple of times I killed the guy he didn't fall off the catwalk. Pissed me off.

Meh, I feel like giving this game a shot but... it's yet another "woah we're having adventaurs in RUINS OH MY GOD ARCHITECTURAL DECAY" game so I could just wait.

.. then again, I did bother with STALKER. Hm.

So I kind of skipped ahead in the main quest by accident.

How do I get to GNR? I still want that quest.
